Lenovo M75Q Gen2 Tiny is a midget for special tasks

Can you imagine a desktop computer that fits in the palm of your hand? That’s what the Lenovo M75Q Gen2 Tiny is all about. A PC so small it can be attached to a Lenovo TIO 24 monitor to create an All-In-One PC.

A desktop computer with the weight of an ultrabook – Lenovo M75Q Gen2 Tiny

Modern ultrabooks usually weigh around 1.3 – 1.5 kilograms. Apart from extremely light structures weighing less than a kilogram. What do typical desktop computers look like against them? In their housing we can find space for several ultrabooks, and their weight, even in light office computers, is usually 3 kg or more.

What if I told you that there is a desktop computer that weighs 1.32 kg and has a 1-liter case that can easily fit in the palm of your hand? This is the Lenovo M75Q Gen2 Tiny. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to see the ThinkStation P340 Tiny in an almost identical housing and viewed it from this perspective:

If that’s not enough, add endurance to dessert. Lenovo M75Q Gen2 Tiny meets military immunity standards. It is resistant to low and high temperatures, moisture, shocks and falls from a height.

Such a small computer probably starts Paint and hangs on YouTube? Well, nothing could be more wrong

Small dimensions can be tricky, because the Lenovo M75Q Gen2 Tiny with its specification can embarrass many, much larger devices. Its specification includes the AMD Ryzen processor – from the AMD Ryzen 3 PRO 4350GE model, through the AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650GE, to the AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750GE model. Next we have up to 32 GB of RAM (two DDR4 3200 MHz slots), drives – HDD up to 1 TB (5400rpm, 2m5 ″) and SSD up to 1 TB (M.2) and integrated graphics from AMD Radeon Graphics. Optionally, we can also use a DVD drive.

Wireless connectivity is provided by Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 6, and wired … here is a lot to choose from. On the front of the housing there is a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port and a 3.5 mm Jack socket. On the back we have 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1, 2x USB 2.0, Ethernet, HDMI and DisplayPort. Optionally, we can add two ports here. You can choose from VGA, DisplayPort, HDMI, Serial, USB-C 3.2 Gen 1. In any configuration. This means that the computer will handle multiple monitors, up to three independent screens.

That’s it when it comes to components. But there are more interesting solutions. Here we have access to the inside of the housing without the use of tools, support for drivers of older versions of operating systems and AMD Pro Manageability. This feature allows you to remotely administer a fleet of devices. In corporate and corporate use, which is the main purpose of the computer, it is a very useful tool.

The equipment also includes a number of security features. From physical Kensington Lock to ThinkShield security to AMD Memory Guard encryption.

The Lenovo M75Q Gen2 Tiny is a small device in itself. But if you want to save space extremely, you can put it in a compatible monitor. Together with Lenovo TIO 24, we can easily create an All-In-One computer. It is a FullHD screen with a diagonal of 24 inches, equipped with interesting solutions. In addition to the designated space for attaching the computer, it is equipped with Kensington Lock security and a rotating camera. When not in use, you can physically hide its lens. And if we are rotating, the monitor screen can also be placed in a vertical position.

In addition to typical office applications, the Lenovo M75Q Gen2 Tiny computers will also prove themselves in much more demanding conditions. This is due to their reinforced and resistant housing. Recently, I had the opportunity to listen to people from Ducati, a company cooperating with Lenovo, who talked about how they use this type of computer in their engineering work. Workshops are unlikely to be a friendly environment for computers and here the rugged construction works perfectly.

A solid security system has been implemented in the minimalistic equipment. Company data will be under lock and key. The Lenovo ThinkCentre M75q 2nd generation, in addition to strong components responsible for smooth operation, is equipped with ThinkShield security to protect against data theft. The AMD Memory Guard feature, on the other hand, provides full memory encryption. Thanks to it, taking over the data stored on the disks is impossible, even in the case of physical access to them. As a result, confidential data is adequately protected against access by third parties.

The Lenovo M75Q Gen2 Tiny will also work well as a desktop… portable computer. You can use it in the office, and after work, put it in a backpack and take it on a business trip or home. I have the impression that we are often afraid of small computers. In the case of stationary devices, small is associated with poorly equipped. Nice to see notable exceptions such as the Lenovo M75Q Gen2 Tiny.
