Many believe that the future is marked by programmers and programs, so more and more companies are trying to encourage them to explore the secrets of the “zero-one” language of the youngest. There was already an extensive queue, so it was time for Little Sophia, a robot teaching children to program, which found its way to Kickstarter.

This is a kind of Sofia’s successor, a robot from Uncanny Sophia Hanson Robotics, which deals with appearances at the United Nations or going on dates with Will Smith. Little Sophia, however, is a bit less advanced, but equally useful in the development of not so much robots as our future generation.

This 36 centimeter and (frankly) slightly creepy doll with a polished human face and a transparent electronics gap on the back of the head is designed to offer as many functions as possible of a full sized robot. The list of its functions, however, gives the impression that it is not particularly innovative in relation to other educational robots.

Little Sophia can track and recognize faces, walk, sing, play games and even dance. It also responds to voice commands, even tossing jokes on command. However, it is the related application that awakens in it what is most important, a Blockly and Python teacher with a focus on children aged 7 to 13. At the same time, it is directed mainly towards girls, when the boys will probably get more fun with, for example, Vector programming from Anki (such a company, not a friend from school).

This creation by Hanson Robotics, however, requires funds to start production, which it is trying to raise on Kickstarter. She managed to collect almost 3/4 of the required amount. There, eager people can get their Little Sophia for as little as $ 99, which will raise to $ 149 after the official premiere.
