Mikhelson called the idea to limit gas prices stupidity

MOSCOW, 13 Oct – PRIME. Talk about limiting the price of imported gas in the European Union is stupidity, which should have a limit, said the head and co-owner of Novatek, Leonid Mikhelson, as part of the Russian Energy Week.

According to him, it remains unclear which resources will be affected by this restriction and whether it will extend to American LNG.

“I think that there will be no such decisions. My, maybe, a subjective opinion. But I think that there is a limit to stupidity,” Mikhelson said.

He stressed that such ideas only exacerbate the uncertainty in the global gas market and complicate negotiations.

Earlier, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, sent a letter to the leaders of the EU countries with a proposal to consider measures to reduce the prices of purchased gas, including limiting the cost of imported fuel.
