Looking at the visuals that show us the unique Flight Test museum before the premiere, it’s hard not to get the impression that you are looking at scraps of properly connected bombers and stealth planes. Admittedly not literally, their character has evidently been retained by the American company Gensler, which has now unveiled the plans for this impressive new museum dedicated to the history of test flights and historic aircraft.
The unique Flight Test museum draws heavily on the hallmarks of stealth aircraft
The building will stand out above all with its metallic roof, inspired by the angular features of the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk aircraft. At the same time, it will adopt a body resembling a hangar, which inside will provide the entire 5574 square meters of space.
The location of this museum is also specific, as it will be located near Edwards Air Force Base in Antelope Valley, California, which has been a flight research center for decades. What’s inside? Above all, the welcome lounge, classrooms, library and gift shop, and even a bar named after Florence Lowe “Pancho” Barnes, the female pilot who founded the first film stunt pilot union.

The upper gallery, on the other hand, will be a vantage point for a collection of over 80 vintage airplanes, and outside, you will be able to see definitely unique Nighthawk and Black Hawk exhibits. In addition, the museum will organize fundraisers, events and temporary exhibitions, but now it is a distant future, because work on the project is to be completed in 2024.
