Most of Google’s employees do not mind a censored search engine for China

It turns out that we should even appreciate things like Google search, because in some countries such a “slow” service would never pass. Google, whose search engine was blocked by the Chinese government in 2010, learned about it painfully. Now, however, they want to return to the local market with Project Dragonfly.

It will be nothing more than a damn censored search engine in terms of sensitive (for the state authorities) topics. It would seem, then, that this will not be appreciated by employees in a company that should fight for freedom of speech. Business is business, however, as confirmed by the results of the survey, according to which over 67% of Google employees do not mind Project Dragonfly. At least such information can be found on the web, the authors of which ignore the fact that … 472 employees out of over 85,000 were examined. So it does not reflect a particularly transparent insight into the matter that ordinary people are strongly against.

Again, we are dealing with a per mille of a given group, but the results of the Blind app survey indicate that among 7369 respondents, about 2632 (35.73%) answered “yes” to the question of whether “Google should provide China with a censored search engine”. We must also not forget that 1,400 employees of Google signed a petition about the violation of ethics and morality immediately after the news about Project Dragonfly. There is already quite a lot of staff traffic here. But how will the matter ultimately end? It is difficult to predict, but we will certainly keep you informed about its development.
