New Quadro RTX cards already announced. Will consumer models have anything to do with them?

Another and unfortunately the last set of information from the Nvidia presentation. The one to conclude the performance at SIGGRAPH has unveiled three graphics cards designed for professionals. We are talking about Quadro RTX 5000, Quadro RTX 6000 and Quadro RTX 8000.

What will they have in common? Well, the Turing architecture, which Nvidia announces to be even revolutionary in recent years. I’ve written about it here, but in short, the whole thing is three innovative changes to the architecture that will now include additional cores. Despite the “CUDA” known to us, the board will also include Tensor cores supporting computing related to artificial intelligence, RT – allowing to deal with ray-tracing, and improved Shader and Compute cores. The whole range of these novelties will of course be found in the Quadro RTX 5000, Quadro RTX 6000 and Quadro RTX 8000. Their detailed specification is listed in the table below (thanks, Vidocardz).

Everything indicates that these three graphics cards will be equipped with 754 mm2 core based on the Turing architecture and will offer (first) support for VirtualLink in the USB-C format. They will also have the option of creating a multiGPU configuration, which indicates that the laminate disclosed in the past was theirs. The price of the models is very high, but no wonder – such an innovative product simply could not be cheap.

However, we should be interested in the possible premiere of the new generation GeForce on the consumer market. We already know a bit about him, as confirmed by the hidden message in the announcement of the GeForce Gaming Celebration. Three of the most powerful models are to be called RTX rather than GTX, which may indicate the presence of Turing architecture there, and more precisely the unique cores it predicts. Let me just remind you that the previous family of cards from Nvidia also shared the same architecture (Pascal) in the professional and consumer market. However, everything should come to light on August 20.
