Norwegian Air expected to support crypto payments in spring 2020

Customers of Norwegian Air, a large Norwegian low cost airline, will soon be able to pay their tickets via crypto-currencies as Bitcoin.

In an interview with local media, the general manager of Norwegian Block Exchange (NBX), Stig Kjos-Mathisensaid its cryptocurrency had designed a payment infrastructure allowing customers to Norwegian Air pay their tickets directly with digital assets, report Coindesk.

Everything is ready on our side, ”he said, adding that the functionality would be rolled out in the spring or later this year.

Teased last year, the project aims to use the new platform NBX to take care of crypto-payments client Norwegian Air.

Kjos-Mathisen is the son-in-law of the wealthy Norwegian businessman Bjørn Kjos, founder and CEO of Norwegian Air.

Norwegian bank Sparebanken Østa invested 1.5 million euros in the crypto-exchange NBX last September.

Bjørn Kjos' son, Lars Ola Kjos, is known to have bought Bitcoin in 2017, just a few months before its price hit peaks.
