MOSCOW, 15 Sep — PRIME. World gas prices, despite the EU’s idea to introduce a “ceiling” of prices for Russian energy resources, will be formed in a market way, Russia’s contracts for gas supplies to Europe are long-term and other decisions will not affect price formation. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
“The price of gas will be formed in a market way. Based on the balance of supply and demand,” he said, adding that we are talking about spot deliveries.
As for pipeline transport, Russia is guided by the terms of contracts on a long-term basis, Novak specified.
He stressed that in 2022, according to the Ministry of Energy, the export of Russian “blue fuel” will decrease by about 50 billion cubic meters.
Against this background, Novak noted that the European authorities “should first of all think about those who live there, not about how to interfere in market processes,” commenting on the possibility of a more adequate position on energy resources in the European Union with the onset of winter.
