Nvidia Geforce GTX Titan X is revealed in full specifications

In the throng of approaching VR headsets and new graphics interfaces at the Game Developers Conference, Nvidia took the opportunity to present the Geforce GTX Titan X, which takes Maxwell to the top tier. In addition to 12 GB of video memory and over eight billion transistors, the details were in short supply, something that is now being addressed when specifications leak online.

The data can easily be summarized by the fact that the Geforce GTX Titan X with the associated graphics processor GM200 steps up by 50 percent compared to the GTX 980. In accordance with previous rumors, it is thus 3,072 CUDA cores according to the architecture Maxwell. One piece of the puzzle that is now falling into place is the clock frequencies, there base is at 1 002 MHz and its announced at boost is 1,089 MHz.

For memory, like its predecessor GTX Titan Black and similar GTX 780 Ti, it is a 384-bit memory bus with GDDR5 memory at 7,012 MHz, for a specified bandwidth of 336 GB / s. However, according to Nvidia, the refined memory compression in the Maxwell architecture is 33 percent better compared to Kepler and thus enhances the effective memory performance.

The information comes from the graphics blog Videocardz, which also claims that the graphics card has plenty of room for overclocking. The graphics processor is said to be easy to turn up to 1,200 MHz (1,280 MHz at boost) and the memory to 8,000 MHz. The latter varies, however, depending on the memory provider, as the graphics card can receive modules from either Samsung, Hynix or Elpida.

Characteristic of previous graphics cards in the Geforce GTX Titan series is high performance in double-precision calculations, something that has made the models affordable alternatives to professional Quadro. According to rumors, this does not apply to the new GTX Titan X, which is said to lose a significant amount of performance in that type of calculation.

Nvidia Geforce GTX Titan X is expected to make its entrance tomorrow night in connection with the GPU Technology Conference 2015, which kicks off at 18:00 Swedish time.
