NVIDIA GeForce MX35 Vs AMD Radeon RX Vega 7

Many are interested in the question of whether the graphics core built into the processor can compete on an equal footing with a discrete video card for entry-level laptops, it will be especially interesting to know how both video cards will behave in computer games. In this review, we will compare the discrete NVIDIA GeForce MX350 graphics card and the Radeon RX Vega 7 graphics core integrated into the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H processor.

NVIDIA GeForce MX350

So, the NVIDIA GeForce MX350 video card is positioned by the manufacturer as an entry-level graphics adapter for multimedia notebooks. This video card was released in February 2020. In fact, the NVIDIA GeForce MX350 is the successor to the GeForce MX250, but interestingly, the MX250 video card, released in February 2019, was essentially an overclocked mobile video card GeForce MX150 in the frequency range.

But with the GeForce MX350, everything turned out to be much more complicated, if you look closely at the characteristics of the new product, you can understand that the MX350 model is actually a “cut-down” mobile video card GeForce GTX 1050 of the first generation. See for yourself, the MX350 is based on the same GP107 crystal as the GTX 1050.

At the same time, the new product has the same 640 CUDA cores and even the frequencies are very similar. However, there is one problem – the memory bus. Here it is cut in half, that is, we are talking about 64 bits. Plus reduced to 25W TDP. And these two factors have a very serious impact on the performance of the MX350. Simply put, the GeForce MX350, although faster than its predecessor GeForce MX250, is still significantly inferior to the GTX 1050 with 640 CUDA cores.

AMD Radeon RX Vega 7

AMD Radeon RX Vega 7 is a video processor built into some Ryzen 4000 mobile processors. The Vega architecture is the fifth generation GCN, plus some improvements, in particular, in the encoding and decoding units of modern video formats. Vega 7 has 7 clusters of 64 cores each, for a total of 448, and operates at a frequency of up to 1600 MHz, depending on the processor model. That said 1600 MHz is the top bar in the Ryzen 7 4800H and 4800HS. Vega 7 performance is very dependent on the TDP of the processor (15W, 35W, 45W), on the upper available frequency, on the cooling and on the RAM of the laptop. You can expect the maximum performance from this GPU when using the fast dual channel DDR4-3200.

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt  offers a non-linear, mature, action-packed story and unparalleled QTE-free combat system that combines a wide variety of RPG tactics with dynamic and spectacular combat worthy of the best action games. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was developed with the REDengine 3 game engine, which was aimed at current generation consoles and PCs. The first part of The Witcher was based on the Aurora Engine technology, a game engine developed by the Canadian company BioWare and first used in the computer role-playing game Neverwinter Nights, which was released on June 18, 2002. The technology uses HDR rendering with 64-bit depth, which produces the highest image quality with more realistic and faithful lighting without losing detail. Flexible rendering ready for deferred or advanced rendering with a wide range of cinematic post effects, including depth-of-field bokeh, color gradation, and light flares. High quality terrain allows for multiple layers of material to blend seamlessly and uses tasselation to maximize detail. The technology also includes seamless linking of animation and physics and a number of other features. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is by far the most technologically advanced and advanced open world RPG. The game pleases the eye with its wonderful world and atmosphere, forcing you to completely immerse yourself in the gameplay, forgetting about all the other problems happening around. including bokeh depth of field, color gradation, flashes from light sources. Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Shadow of the Tomb Raider takes place after the events depicted in RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER. This time Miss Croft travels to Latin America, where she travels through the ruins of an ancient civilization (including the Mayan and Aztec pyramids), discovers the secrets of the Order of the Trinity, and learns more about her father’s research. The story is more mature than in previous games. To portray Lara as a more advanced adventurer, the developers set out to make her face the consequences of the decisions she made. Rise of the Shadow of the Tomb Raider uses a new game engine called the Foundation Engine. Shadow of the Tomb Raider includes improved subsurface scattering on Lara, volumetric lighting, and beams of light shining through foliage. Also, the new game uses advanced anti-aliasing – TAA, instead of SMAA. In addition, the effects of water have improved and the waves from movement now have a three-dimensional shape, and in general the interaction with water is better. Tessellation is present in both games, but it is used for different purposes.

Metro: EXODUS Is a first-person shooter made by the 4A Engine studio based on the novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky, most likely the last part and the likely ending of the Metro 2033 franchise series. The plot takes place on the territory of the post-apocalyptic Russian Federation, where survivors of a nuclear war managed to hide in the big Moscow metro and are trying to survive under the onslaught attacks of evil mutant predators, as well as warring factions.

4A Engine is a game engine developed by the Ukrainian company 4A Games for use in their computer game Metro 2033, published by THQ on March 16, 2010. The game does not contain preset image detail modes, although they are in the utility that runs the built-in benchmark – from low to ultra-high. Among the individual settings, only the overall “quality” of the image can be adjusted, the sample size of pixels for anisotropic filtering, the intensity of motion blur, and the depth of tessellation of geometric primitives.

As the main method of full-screen anti-aliasing, the game uses its own kind of temporal algorithm (TAA – Temporal Anti-Aliasing) – it cannot be disabled, but judging by the information from NVIDIA, TAA works very smoothly here and probably has little effect on overall performance. As with most games of the caliber of Metro Exodus, the engine allows you to scale the image quality over a wide range, with the difference between low, medium and ultra-high detail profiles being extremely pronounced.

Borderlands 3 Everybody’s favorite shooter with mountains of loot is back with tons of barrels ready and crazy adventures! Hurricane battles await you in unknown worlds with new opponents. Borderlands 3, like all previous episodes of the franchise, is based on the graphics engine Unreal Engine, this time on its fourth, most modern version.

In the gaming industry in recent years, this is one of the most demanded and deserved software platforms – along with Unity and CryEngine. The Borderlands 3 engine integrates AMD’s FidelityFX libraries that perform post-processing functions, in this case, enhancing clarity with local contrast. For a game styled as a comic book, this option is ideal, and most importantly, the technology itself is not tied to the hardware of this or that manufacturer and may well run on NVIDIA video cards.

Battlefield V is a first-person shooter in which the gamer will visit different parts of the world during the Second World War. The gameplay is extremely varied and interesting, and therefore this game is loved by millions of people.

The game is based on the Frostbite Engine 3.5. Frostbite Engine is a game engine developed by EA Digital Illusions CE; it is used both in its own development and in projects of other branches of Electronic Arts. When it comes to visuals, Battlefield V sets new standards for shooter picture quality, powered by the improved Frostbite engine.

It is hardly possible to find another such beautiful military shooter, no matter how trite it may sound. The single-player campaign also stands out nicely, because for multiplayer, EA and DICE have chosen a trade-off between performance and appearance. This is not to say that the picture is much worse, but still the developers focused on performance. The only negative point concerns the level of detail depending on the viewing distance. Regardless of the selected graphics quality level, objects are always drawn at a certain distance – although they could appear much earlier / further.

Doom Eternal– a computer game in the genre of a first-person shooter. The game was developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. Doom Eternal is part of the Doom series and a direct sequel to the 2016 PC game Doom. As part of the story campaign, the player again takes on the role of the Doom Executioner, and the events of the game unfold 2 years after the events that took place on Mars.

The executioner must stop the Cult of Deag, which, together with the UAC corporation that has gone over to the side of Hell, is going to destroy humanity. DOOM Eternal’s menu contains a ton of image detail options, but for simplicity, almost all of the individual settings can be changed at the same time using the common slider. The latter takes six positions – from Low to Ultra Nightmare, and a few options that do not obey the main parameter, – this is a dynamic change of resolution, the Depth of Field effect and anti-aliasing of the latter.

When it comes to full-screen anti-aliasing, id Software has this time deprived gamers of the choice between several AA algorithms, and DOOM Eternal always has some form of temporal anti-aliasing (TAA) in place – as usual for recent games on the id Tech engine, very high quality.

Grand Theft Auto V  is a multi-platform  action and open world video game developed by Rockstar North  and published by Rockstar Games. Is the fifteenth in a row For the first time in the history of the series, there are three main characters in the game, and you can switch between them almost at any time. In some missions, two players are available, in some missions the player is thrown onto other characters by a script. For the first time in the series, the main characters have special skills that give them an edge over other characters.

The scene of Grand Theft Auto V was the fictional city of Los Santos, the prototype of which is Los Angeles. Los Santos first appeared in one of the previous games in the series, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, released in 2004. In addition to the city itself, the game also contains the surrounding areas of the countryside, m

ountains, forests, hills, and beaches, called “Blaine County” in the game. There is also a separate play space – the fictional state of North Yankton; probably a parody of the real state of North Dakota close to the Canadian border. There is only one gloomy city in this state – Ludendorff. You cannot get to North Yankton, with the exception of two story missions, the action of which takes place directly in Ludendorff.

The entire map of Los Santos and its environs is open to players from the outset, and Grand Theft Auto V is based on the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine. The Rockstar Advanced Game Engine is a fully featured game engine that contains a graphics engine, physics engine, sound engine, animation engine, game AI, networking, scripting language and other components. Grand Theft Auto V has a very extensive range of graphical settings,

PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS needs no introduction, this is a shooter in which the last surviving participant wins. Starting the game with nothing, you must get weapons and supplies to fight for the first place and become the last hero. The intense battle in this realistic game takes place on the huge 8×8 km post-Soviet Black Sea island of Erangel.

It is one of the most popular multiplayer games today. PUBG is built on the Unreal Engine, which is one of the main engines of progress in the field of consumer 3D graphics (along with competing solutions Frostbite and CryEngine), but compared to other AAA projects on this platform, the game makes a refreshing impression due to its high performance on the mainstream. ” hardware, fast boot times and modest disk space claims by current standards. The developers have simplified the handling of the technical side of PUBG as much as possible, the image quality menu here contains six preset profiles – from Very Low to Ultra, and when you select any of them, individual detail settings take the same value.

Total War: Three Kingdoms —
a computer game that combines elements of the turn-based strategy and RTS genres. The thirteenth part of the Total War series. The era of legendary heroes and the traditional Total War combination of epic battles in real time and a deeply developed turn-based campaign await you. It is worth noting that Total War: Three Kingdoms is demanding on the processor and video card, but not on the amount of RAM.

The minimum requirements for desktop PCs are 4 GB, and the recommended for ultra-settings is 8 GB of RAM. Total War: Three Kingdoms features new post-processing effects, including the studio’s best depth-of-field simulation solution, as well as Screen Space Shadows. The latter technique allows for greater detail in dark areas. Resource-intensive MSAA has been replaced by lighter temporal antialiasing (TAA).

They decided to keep the FXAA, as it is “the most advantageous option in terms of performance”, although it does not give as impressive visual results as TAA. They also improved the quality of materials – wood, metal, character skin, clothing and other leather goods. In addition, there are two color palettes – bright, rich Romance and more realistic, muted Records.

Need for Speed Heat is an addictive street racing game where the law changes as the sun goes down. During the day, Palm City hosts a Speedhunters Showdown, a legal competition where you can earn money to customize and upgrade your cars.

At night, there are adrenaline-fueled illegal street races that earn you a reputation for access to big events and finest details. And don’t be relaxed – the cops are on the alert, and some of them don’t play by the rules. Need for Speed Heat is based on the Frostbite Engine 3.5. The weather effects and car models are especially good. One of the strengths of the engine is its excellent destructibility of objects. In fact, a car can demolish anything from road signs to trees. However, the atmosphere of the game leaves a double feeling. On the one hand, abundant vegetation creates the desired impression, but the world seems empty and lifeless due to the lack of pedestrians and spectators. In addition, the developers should work on the management, limited damage to machines, AI.

Conclusion

To tell the truth, the integrated AMD RX Vega 7 graphics card surprised us, this is a really fast iGPU, which practically does not yield to the performance of the discrete MX350 video card, and even bypasses it in some games such as Battlefield V and Doom Eternal, in other games the difference in performance is small and averages + 15% in favor of the GeForce MX350.

It should be borne in mind that the integrated graphics processor Radeon RX Vega 7 has a TDP of 15 W and does not have its own video memory, so its performance directly depends on the amount and speed of the RAM installed in the laptop, the discrete graphics processor GeForce MX350 has a TDP of 25 W and its own memory of 2 GB, so such a result in games is quite expected.

Summarize, the built-in AMD RX Vega 7 may well compete with laptops with a GeForce MX350 video card, since the gap in games is not that great, but here again we are talking about laptops based on the Ryzen 7 4800H processor, which is installed mainly only in gaming laptops, in which there is a discrete video card of the level of GTX 1650 and higher, and no sane people will play computer games on the AMD RX Vega 7 if there is a more productive discrete video card.

Of course, AMD has an energy efficient Ryzen R7 4700U processor in which the RX Vega 7 is also built in, but its performance, as practice shows, is noticeably inferior to the GeForce MX350 by about 20-30%, despite the fact that both processors have the same graphics core. but here again we are talking about laptops based on the Ryzen 7 4800H processor, which is mainly installed in gaming laptops, which already have a discrete graphics card of the GTX 1650 level and higher, and play computer games on the AMD RX Vega 7 if there is a more efficient discrete graphics card , none of the sane people will.
