“Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060 and RTX 2050 are delayed until 2019”

September 20 is the start of sales for the new architecture Turing, which begins with Geforce RTX 2080 and is followed by RTX 2080 Ti, which was suddenly delayed by a week. After these, RTX 2070 will be released sometime in October, but what the company has plans for after this is not yet known.

In an interview with Chinese PC Online, Asus graphics manager Yang Chenghan talks about the company’s plans for the new Geforce RTX series. One of the big things he mentions is that the GTX 1000 series is here to stay and like Nvidia, he talks about the two graphics card families coexisting all year round and a bit into 2019.

Mr. Yang Chenghan made it clear that at least this year, RTX and GTX are in parallel relationship. The next generation of 60 and 50 graphics cards will only appear next year at the fastest. (översatt i Google Translate)

This applies not least to graphics cards in the lower segment, where Chenghan says that new graphics cards from Nvidia will not be released in the 60s and 50s segments until next year. Furthermore, it appears that the new RTX series will only affect and indirectly compete with the GTX 1080 Ti and GTX 1080, which thus means that the GTX 1070 and below will remain relevant in their respective price ranges.

* Prices for the Nvidia Founders Edition are $ 1,199, 799 and $ 599 respectively.

Asus’ statement also agrees well with Nvidia’s recommended prices for Pascal-based graphics cards. Geforce RTX 2080 and RTX 2070 are at price levels such as GTX 1080 Ti and GTX 1080, respectively, where a minor price adjustment on both would be enough to make them still current alternatives.

► Nvidia’s Geforce GTX 1000 series remains at the same price levels as last year
