The first graphics card in Nvidia’s Ampere family reached the market as recently as September, this in the form of the performance card Geforce RTX 3080. This was then followed by the top card RTX 3090, followed by the entry into the performance camp in the form of RTX 3070. If recent rumors are true These graphics cards will not be of the latest cut for very long, as upgraded variants according to reports will be launched as early as January 2021.
These reports state, among other things, that the Geforce RTX 3080 Ti performance card will be launched in January, where upgrades include dual graphics memory from 10 GB to 20 GB GDDR6X. However, the latest round of data from Videocardz indicates that January will be packed with news, as the simpler graphics cards Geforce RTX 3060 and RTX 3050 will be launched the same month. Upgraded variants Geforce RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3050 Ti make their simultaneous debut as Ti-liberated siblings.

All novelties must apply the same design for the circuit board (PCB), which has the name PG190. This is compatible with the graphics circuit GA104, which is said to be the basis for Geforce RTX 3060 Ti, and GA106 which is the basis for RTX 3060, RTX 3050 Ti. An interesting detail that emerges is that the Geforce RTX 3060 was originally to be equipped with 6 GB of GDDR6 memory at the speed of 14,000 MHz, but that Nvidia has chosen to upgrade this to 12 GB at the speed of 16,000 MHz.
If the data turns out to be correct, they will end up in conflict with the upgraded model Geforce RTX 3060 Ti, which according to current data sticks to 8 GB of graphics memory. A more capable graphics card with a smaller amount of graphics memory seems unlikely, but since RTX 3060 Ti models with 8 GB of graphics memory have already gone on sale in some markets, it seems that this configuration is correct.
Possible explanations for the Geforce RTX 3060 without Ti suffix being listed with 12 GB of graphics memory may be that the specification actually refers to a later upgrade of the Ti model, or that models with 6 and 12 GB will be offered for both the RTX 3060 and its Ti siblings. The information also states that the Geforce RTX 3060 Ti will be launched as early as December 2, 2020, while the other siblings and the performance card RTX 3080 Ti will follow in January 2021.
Videocardz’s report mentions that competitor AMD’s response to Nvidia’s news is to bring forward the launch of the graphics cards in the Radeon RX 6700 series by January 2021. If the information is correct, the start of next year will be extremely technology-heavy, and sweaty for SweClocker’s test lab.
