Nvidia GM200 “Titan II” appears in shipping list

It is no secret that Nvidia is working on more circuits with the Maxwell architecture. After it became clear that TSMC’s 20 nanometer process would take time, the Geforce maker chooses to roll out not only new middle classers but also high-performance graphics processors with existing 28 nanometer technology.

A while ago, the first signs of life from the graphics processor GM204, the successor to today’s GK104, appeared in a shipping list from one of TSMC’s facilities in Taiwan. Now it’s time again, but this time it’s all about the successor to the monster circuit GK110, which is used in the Titan series, among other things.

A new shipping list with several references is now being published on German 3DCenter GM200 A1, which indicates that it is a pre-production copy (A1) of ditto graphics processor. The list also shows that the newcomer shares certain components with the predecessors GK110, GK210 and GK180, ie Titan, Titan Z and Tesla K40 respectively.

The new GM200 graphics processor is said to go by the working name Titan II and contain as many as about 4,000 CUDA cores with a 512-bit memory bus. This indicates that the circuit may even be larger than today’s GK110, which holds the record with 551 mm2 circuit area and over 7.1 billion transistors.
