The company responsible for, among others GeForce graphics cards announced a target for its DeepMap-based Drive Map platform for autonomous cars. This builds on the achievements of companies so far and aims to accelerate the introduction of autonomous technologies to the roads.
NVIDIA wants to accelerate the introduction of autonomous cars to the road with its Drive Map platform
The company recently unveiled its platform, which aims to accelerate the appearance of Level 3 and Level 4 autonomous vehicles on the road by making them safer. NVIDIA wants to achieve this by collecting the right amount of data, and so does Drive Map, based on the technology that DeepMap acquired last year.
DeepMap has been developing and developing highly detailed maps for autonomous vehicles for six years. The technology developed for this purpose will be placed in special vehicles that will travel the world and travel across Europe, Asia and North America to map a total of half a million kilometers of roads by 2024. Such a huge database will make autonomous car systems more secure.

In practice, the Drive Map platform will contain appropriate layers for each kilometer. Each layer will relate to the image from a different instrument, such as cameras, radars or LiDAR, thanks to which it will serve a wider spectrum of modern cars, regardless of technology. In practice, the artificial intelligence controlling the vehicle will be able to use many mapped road details, regardless of the environmental conditions.
