Nvidia hints at next-generation Geforce ahead of Gamescom

In connection with this year’s edition of the Siggraph conference, Nvidia unveiled its new graphics architecture “Turing” after a long period of rumors. What was shown were Quadro models, which are adapted for professional use, and great focus was placed on the rendering technique ray tracing.

Via a new video, Nvidia now suggests that new models aimed at consumers will be unveiled during the Gamescom gaming fair in Germany. The video includes pictures of graphics cards and reference coolers. The clip also ends with the text “Beforthegame” and the date for Gamescom 2018, which further suggests a unveiling during the fair.

Several users on Reddit, among others, have also discovered that Nvidia in the video reveals what the name of the new models will be. Among other things, usernames such as “Not_11”, “RoyTeX” and the numbers 2080 can be seen. Many believe that this points to the next generation being the Geforce RTX 2000 series, something that is in line with Nvidia’s registration of the brand.

Gamescom 2018 will be held in Cologne, Germany between 21-25 August and Nvidia’s event will take place on 20 August.
