Nvidia is preparing “New Dawn” graphics demo

When game developers are not keeping up with the times, graphics card manufacturers have to pull out and demonstrate the features of the latest generation of graphics cards. Nvidia keeps the tradition alive and plans a new graphics demo for the Geforce GTX 680.

The first Dawn was released in connection with the perhaps not so successful Geforce FX series in 2003 and demonstrated, among other things, vertex shaders, diffuse specular lighting and various variants of color maps, the latter to produce realistic skin tones.

Now Nvidia is publishing a “teaser” for New Dawn, an upcoming graphics demo that is there to demonstrate some of the features of the newly launched Geforce GTX 680. The video clip includes PhysX Fur with physics simulation of hundreds of hairs per square centimeter and tessellation to produce a detailed complexion.

The program itself will be released in connection with an upcoming update of the drivers for the Geforce GTX 680, however, it is still unknown exactly when.
