Nvidia releases driver Geforce 417.71 with VESA Adaptive Sync support

When Nvidia made Consumer Electronics Shows in 2019, Geforce was in focus for the sake of the unusual. The Geforce RTX 2060 graphics card was one of the big news, but perhaps the biggest was that Nvidia finally embraces VESA Adaptive Sync – in practice support for the screens launched so far with support for AMD Freesync.

Just over a week later, Nvidia releases its first driver that makes it possible to activate G-Sync on screens with support for VESA Adaptive Sync. There are hundreds of screens on the market today, of which Nvidia has had time to test 400 and only 12 live up to the company’s high demands for G-Sync.

The twelve screens approved by Nvidia are Acer XFA240, Acer XG270HU, Acer XV273K, Acer XZ321Q, AOC Agon AG241QG4, AOC G2590FX, Asus MG278Q, Asus XG248, Asus VG258Q, Asus XF258, Asus. When the graphics card is connected to one of these monitors, the support is activated automatically, while it has to be switched on manually in the drivers of other models.

Nvidia is clear in pointing out that users who turn on G-Sync on screens that have not received a quality stamp can lead to a wide range of problems, where from blur to poorer flow in the image is mentioned. How big or small the problems are of course varies between different screens.
