Nvidia’s price reduction of Geforce GTX 1080 reaches Swedish stores

When Nvidia presented its latest flagship Geforce GTX 1080 Ti, it was with its 699 dollars a number of hundred dollars cheaper than many expected, and in Swedish stores the recommended price tag is SEK 8,490. As a direct consequence of this, Nvidia adjusted the price of GTX 1080.

When Nvidia introduced the Geforce GTX 1080, the reference model Founder’s Edition cost $ 699 and the recommendation for custom solutions from partners landed at $ 599. The new price points are 549 and 499 dollars, respectively, of which the latter corresponds to a price adjustment of around a thousand kroner in Swedish stores.

Now the new price has started to apply to most of the large retailers and partner manufacturers. One week ago, the price for the Geforce GTX 1080 was around SEK 7,000 and up, while since Nvidia’s price adjustment, they can now be found for as little as just under SEK 6,000.

Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080 is based on the GP104 graphics circuit with 2,560 CUDA cores from the Pascal architecture. These are in standard version clocked at 1,607 MHz at base and 1,733 MHz at boost, but most models from partners come with higher factory overclocking than that.

This includes a 256-bit memory bus with 8 GB GDDR5X at 10,000 MHz, which gives a bandwidth of 320 GB / s. It is worth mentioning that special “OC variants” will also be released in the future with GDDR5X clocked at 11,000 MHz for a bandwidth of 352 GB / s. However, these come at a higher and as yet unknown price.
