MOSCOW, 12 Oct — PRIME. The leak from the Druzhba pipeline will last for several more hours, a representative of the Polish State Fire Guard said.
A leak was discovered on one of the strings of the Druzhba oil pipeline
“We hope that in the next hours the leak will be less,” – said the press secretary of the chief commandant of the guard Karol Kierzkowski.
According to him, the pumping of oil through the damaged line has already been suspended and the pressure in it is decreasing. Rescuers are currently on the scene.
Kezhkovsky clarified that there is no threat to local residents in connection with the leak, since the incident occurred in a corn field where there are no buildings. He added that it was “too early” to talk about the causes of the accident.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Polish operator of the Druzhba oil pipeline reported a depressurization of one of the two pipelines. This pipeline is the main route for oil supplies to Germany.
