PC gamers can now update DualSense controllers without connecting to a PS5

Surely if you have been using a PS5 DualSense Joystick on your PC, you know how annoying it is to have to update your firmware. It’s annoying even on the PS5 if you’re itching to start playing. Fortunately for PC users, it just got a little easier thanks to a new updater app for Windows 10 and 11.

As many know the Sony DualShock 4 Joysticks are pretty decent for PC and relatively easy to set up. That didn’t change with the launch of the PlayStation 5 and its DualSense Joystick. The only difference is that unlike the DualShock, the DualSense requires frequent firmware updates.

The problem with updating a DualSense is that it requires users to connect it to a PlayStation 5 via USB. So those who use one on a PC need to plug it into a PS5 to update and then plug it back into the PC, which is a hassle. It also limits gamers who may have purchased the Joystick separately for PC and don’t have a PS5 to upgrade.

Fortunately, Sony is aware of the situation and released a update app para Windows 11 y Windows 10.

Sony lists the system requirements:

• Operating system: Windows 10 (64-bit) or Windows 11
• Storage space: 10 MB or more
• Screen resolution: 1024 × 768 or higher
• USB port: Required

Once the application is installed, we connect the DualSense to the PC with a USB cable and follow the instructions on the screen. After installing the firmware, we close the application and disconnect the Joystick to use it wirelessly again. The app also lets users know when new firmware is available.
