Poland to freeze energy prices for a number of enterprises

MOSCOW, 11 Oct — PRIME. The Polish government has decided to freeze electricity prices for “sensitive” businesses and local governments at 785 złoty (about $160) per MWh, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said.

“Today we are introducing something that is extremely important for many economic entities, public organizations and governments. We are introducing a maximum price mechanism for sensitive enterprises, local governments, but also for small and medium-sized firms up to the level of consumption that the European Commission, at a price of 785 zł per megawatt-hour,” said the head of the Polish government.

He noted that this is much lower than commercial offers previously received by economic entities. “Previously, the offers that local authorities and enterprises received were even 1.5 thousand, two thousand and even more than 2.5 thousand zlotys per megawatt-hour of electricity,” Morawiecki said.
