Radeon RX 6000 reappears in the picture again – with a smaller model

Nvidia will begin the technology autumn in 2020 with both the presentation and launch of the Geforce RTX 3000 series graphics card. AMD chooses to unveil its own graphics card series Radeon RX 6000 later this autumn, perhaps so as not to leave too much spotlight on rival Nvidia. However, the company has offered an appetizer in the form of a picture of a model of the more substantial kind with an associated solid cooler solution.

Just days later, new pictures are found on the web, this time with the Youtube channel Jayztwocents as the sender. The first image shows the full-size model that AMD unveiled earlier, where the size takes up two slots and the cooling solution is equipped with three axial fans whose design is somewhat reminiscent of the Asus Axial-Tech design.

A novelty that has not been shown before is a smaller model with only two axial fans and a shorter circuit board (PCB). The speculation is that the larger model in the pictures is the famous flagship “Big Navi”, which is expected to have the product name Radeon RX 6900. The smaller model can instead be a model in the segment under the top card, potentially Radeon RX 6800 or RX 6700.

The Radeon RX 6000 series premieres the architecture RDNA 2 on the PC side, and according to AMD’s CEO Lisa Su will reach the market before the architecture takes place in the game consoles Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X / S. Among the news against RDNA 1.0 is hardware accelerated ray tracing, variable image quality with VRS and advanced geometry calculation with primitive shaders, or mesh shaders as they are also called.

AMD will unveil the Radeon RX 6000 cards on October 28, 2020, and as the next generation of gaming consoles will be released starting in early November, the first Radeon RX 6000 models should reach the market shortly after unveiling.
