Radeon RX 6700 XT, two variants with different TGP coming? In recent days, a possible release date for the Radeon RX 6700 XT on AMD, on March 18. However, it is not the only novelty, or allegedly so emerged in the past few hours. According to the latest rumors, they exist two “SKUs”, ie two variants, of the GPU (Navi 22) which will represent the heart of the new mainstream proposal. A variant should end up on the reference models, while the second would be expressly dedicated to overclocked models.
The board equipped with the GPU “standard”, identified by rumors as “ASIC B“, would have a TGP at 189W, while the other – with chips “ASIC A“- would go as far as 230W, thereby giving AMD’s AIB partners more leeway to boost frequencies. In practice, AMD would make a sort of source selection, allocating the “best” GPUs to the factory overclocked cards of the partners, and leaving the less fortunate chips to the base models. For the end user it shouldn’t change much, other than the overclocking margin.
According to the rumor, the Radeon RX 6700 XT it could be 20-25% faster than the Radeon RX 5700 XT, while as regards the frequencies, there are still no certain details but we are talking about 2500-2600 MHz. The 12GB of GDDR6 memory expected on this model should be set at 16 Gbps, like the high-end 6800/6900 cards already released , for a bandwidth of 384 GB / s. The value is 64GB / s lower than on previous RX 5700 cards, but that’s not upset, because the effect of Infinity Cache is not taken into account. Finally, in the month of April it should also arrive there Radeon RX 6700 “smooth”, but with only 6GB of GDDR6 memory.
