The RTX 3090 promises to be the fastest graphics card ever.

Everything is official: the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 that has created a resonance in the network is confirmed, the release of the video card is scheduled for September 24, get ready.

Announced at Nvidia’s launch event, the graphics card is becoming the Green Team’s flagship GPU in the consumer market. The manufacturer calls 3090 “BFGPU”. | RTX 3090: RELEASE DATE

While the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 will be the first Ampere graphics card in the series, hitting the market on September 17th, Team Green is taking a phased approach to releasing the entire series.

As you can see, this is a big step up from the RTX 2080 Ti, followed by 24GB of VRAM, which horrifies even the Titan. When Nvidia unveiled the new graphics card, CEO Huang made it clear that the 3090 is an evolution of the Nvidia Titan RTX and not the RTX 2080 Ti.

Titan series graphics cards, while based on the same technology as other GeForce graphics cards, are actually geared towards graphics professionals and content creators, which is evident in the price, although they are relatively affordable against the background of professional graphics.

So, even though Nvidia ditched the idea of ​​Titan’s position outside the gaming market, it’s still a completely different class of graphics and performance, overkill for most users.

The size of the intended GPU is indicative of the same. In addition to being physically large – the Founder Edition is a 3-slot monster – it also offers 10496 CUDA cores with 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM. Hardcore performance never before available on GeForce. For comparison, the brilliant Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti offered “only” 4352 CUDA cores, backed up by 11GB of video memory.

Unfortunately, this approach doesn’t make the RTX 3090 more than twice as fast as the RTX 2080 Ti – the streaming multiprocessor isn’t limited to CUDA cores, but it’s still a very powerful graphics card.

However, to handle that kind of power, the RTX 3090 requires a huge amount of power. The design power of the graphics chip reaches 350W, which is 30% more than the TDP of the RTX 2080 Ti. Nvidia recommends a 750W PSU for the RTX 3090, but for increased security and maximum efficiency, we recommend relying on a 1000W PSU, especially if the graphics card will be powered by a resource-intensive processor like the Intel Core i9-10900K.

Some third-party manufacturers, like ASUS, for example, argue that users with older PSUs should upgrade this part of the computer to cope with the sudden power surges that the RTX 3090 can cause.

At this stage, it is difficult to say how big the performance gain is. We haven’t been able to test the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 on our own, so it’s prudent to take Nvidia’s claims with a grain of salt. Whether the graphics card will be able to provide an ideal gaming experience at 8K @ 60FPS is not yet known, but on paper we have a monster of exceptional power.
