Review and testing of the AMD Radeon 530 video card

Review and testing of the AMD Radeon 530 video card: Test | Specs | CPU | Config – The AMD Radeon 530 video card, apparently, belongs to the entry-level video adapters, as a rule, such video cards are used in laptops and compact PCs. According to AMD, there are two versions of the Radeon 530 with 384 or 320 shader units and native DDR3 or GDDR5 graphics memory. As it turned out, the video card is based on the old architecture, and not on one of the new chips of the Polaris RX series, so the new product uses the same architecture as the Radeon R7 M445 / M440.

The AMD Radeon 530 video accelerator is built on the basis of the third generation of the 28nm AMD GCN microarchitecture. Its GPU is equipped with 6 or 5 computing units (384 or 320 stream processors, 24 or 20 texture units, 8 raster units) with a clock frequency of up to 1024 MHz. The video buffer is represented by a maximum of 2 GB GDDR3 or GDDR5 memory with an effective frequency of 4.5 GHz in the second case. Since the memory uses a 64-bit interface, the maximum bandwidth is limited to 48 GB / s. AMD Radeon 530 supports Mantle, DirectX 12, OpenGL, Vulkan, and OpenCL 1.2.

Literally FPS stands for “Frame per second”, or frames per second. Accordingly, the larger this number, the smoother the picture will be on the display during the game. How much FPS is needed for a comfortable game? It is difficult to unequivocally answer this question, if only because in different game engines with the same number of frames per second, the image quality can be different. However, there is a widespread belief that 30 FPS will be enough for a smooth game.

The gaming performance of the Radeon 530 graphics card is between the video adapters for laptops, the Radeon R7 M440 (320 shader units, DDR3) and the Radeon R7 M460 (384 shader units, DDR3). Considering the above, it turns out that the Radeon 530 with high-tech games such as The Witcher 3, Call of Duty: Infinite will not cope. Less demanding games like Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege will run freely at 1080p with low to medium graphics settings. Next, we tested the Radeon 530 in popular games at medium and low graphics settings with a display resolution of 1280×720 and 1920×1080 pixels, based on 60 frames per second (FPS).
