Review and testing of the AMD Radeon R7 370 video card: Test | Specs | CPU | Config

Review and testing of the AMD Radeon R7 370 video card: Test | Specs | CPU | Config – AMD has long ceased to delight its fans with the release of really new products in the mid-price segment of vide cards for desktop PCs, and has been renaming old products for a long time. This is how it learned with the new video cards included in the Radeon R7 series, which is currently represented by two models: Radeon R7 360 and Radeon R7 370. The manufacturer positions them as solutions for online games in Full HD resolution. In this review we will take a look at the Radeon R7 370, which is an improved copy of the good old Radeon HD 7850 with changed frequency characteristics.

Radeon R7 370 is a renamed Radeon R7 265. And if you dig deeper, then it is a Radeon HD 7850. But with reservations. If we compare the “three hundred and seventieth” with the Radeon R7 265, then the chip began to work faster at 50 MHz. However, it was possible to reduce power consumption from 150 W to 110 W.

If we compare the Radeon R7 370 with the Radeon HD 7850, the GPU frequency has increased by 115 MHz (in three years), the memory frequency has increased by 200 MHz, and the maximum power consumption has decreased by 65 W. The frequency of 2 or 4 GB of GDDR5 memory has not changed, it is connected via a 256-bit interface. The memory chips operate at 1400 MHz, the bandwidth is up to 179.2 GB / s. Otherwise, we get the usual 1024 stream processors, 64 TMU texture units and 32 ROP pipelines.

Note the 110W thermal design, additional power is supplied through one 6-pin PCI Express connector. The new product should compete with the GeForce GTX 750 Ti. As a matter of fact, at one time the Radeon R7 265 was also released in order to compete with this video card.

For the Radeon R7 370, DirectX 12 support is announced. But the basic level of capabilities is supported by all solutions based on this graphics chip.
The increase in frequencies is combined with a gradual reduction in the cost of the printed circuit board and the reference version of the Radeon R7 370 resembles a typical representative of the budget class. Short board, simple power supply, and a cooler with a conventional lobe heatsink. At one time, even the Radeon HD 7770 looked a little more solid and was based on a larger PCB. But this is standard. Large manufacturers have traditionally presented a number of non-reference models. Some of them can boast not only non-standard design, but also increased memory capacity.

Testing

Power-saving CPU technologies are disabled in all tests. In the NVIDIA driver settings, CPU is selected as the processor for PhysX computation. In AMD settings, Tesselation setting is switched from AMD Optimized state to Use application settings. Testing the performance of video cards was carried out in a closed case of the system unit on a system with the following configuration:

Test configuration

  • PROCESSOR: Intel Core i7-4770K -3.5 (3.9) GHz
  • MOTHER BOARD: ASUS Z97-DELUXE
  • MEMORY: 16GB (4x 4096 MB) DDR3 Corsair
  • HARD DRIVE: Samsung 830 Series 256GB SSD
  • OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 8.1 x64

Synthetic tests

To evaluate the performance in synthetics, we used 3DMark13 tests in the Fire Strike and Fire Strike Extreme scenes.

  • Futuremark 3DMark Fire Strike-5410
  • Futuremark 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme- 2680

Game tests

The performance of the video cards was tested in two resolutions: 1600 × 900 and 1920 × 1080 pixels. For the tests, the graphics quality mode was used: with anisotropic filtering and full-screen anti-aliasing enabled. Anisotropic filtering and full-screen anti-aliasing was enabled directly in the game settings. V-Sync was also forcibly disabled there.

Grand Theft Auto V

Theft the Auto the V Grand  (abbr GTA V.) – a multi-platform video game in the genre of Action and the open world, developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. Is the fifteenth in a rowFor the first time in the history of the series, there are three main characters in the game, and you can switch between them almost at any time. In some missions, two players are available, in some missions the player is thrown onto other characters by a script. For the first time in the series, the main characters have special skills that give them an edge over other characters. The scene of Grand Theft Auto V was the fictional city of Los Santos, the prototype of which is Los Angeles.

Los Santos first appeared in one of the previous games in the series, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, released in 2004. In addition to the city itself, the game also contains the surrounding areas of the countryside, mountains, forests, hills, and beaches, called “Blaine County” in the game. There is also a separate play space – the fictional state of North Yankton; probably a parody of the real state of North Dakota close to the Canadian border.

There is only one gloomy city in this state – Ludendorff. You cannot get into North Yankton, with the exception of two story missions, which take place directly in Ludendorff. The entire map of Los Santos and its environs is open to players from the outset, and Grand Theft Auto V is based on the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine. The Rockstar Advanced Game Engine is a fully featured game engine that contains a graphics engine, physics engine, sound engine, animation engine, game AI, networking, scripting language and other components. Metro Last Light

Metro : Last Light (Russian Metro: Ray of Hope) is a computer game in the first-person shooter genre, the sequel to Metro 2033. The sequel was developed on three main guiding principles: the first is to preserve the atmosphere of horror of the first part, the second is to diversify the set of weapons, the third is to improve technologies Metro 2033. Developers from 4A Games also took into account some wishes of the players and promised this time to fix some bugs, tweak artificial intelligence and stealth elements.

The authors of “Metro: Last Light” decided not to take the events of the second book by Dmitry Glukhovsky as a basis for the plot. Instead, the game is a direct sequel to the first installment with a rich, linear storyline. The protagonist of “Metro: Last Light” again becomes Artyom, who this time has to prevent a civil war between the inhabitants of the Moscow metro.

Metro Last Light was developed on a modified version of the 4A Engine that was used in Metro2033. Among the improvements, more advanced AI and optimization of the graphics engine should be noted. Thanks to the use of PhysX, the engine received many features, for example, destructible environments, simulation of bends on clothes, waves on water and other elements that are completely influenced by the environment. Metro Last Light is currently one of the most technological products of our time, even though the game was released not only for personal computers, but also for the current generation of game consoles. destructible environment, simulation of bends on clothes, waves on water and other elements completely influenced by the environment.

Watch Dogs—  built on the new Disrupt graphics engine, which evolved from parts of the AnvilNext (Assassin’s Creed) (urban mechanics) and Dunia (Far Cry 3) (vegetation and artificial intelligence) engines. The game looks good even at low settings and impresses with the beauty of the picture when all the controls are set to their maximum parameters.
