Introduction
Kingston HyperX 3K is the flagship of Kingston-branded solid state drives. The first batches were originally based on synchronous MLC NAND, manufactured by Intel and Micron in a joint venture with a 25 nm process technology.
However, last summer, Toshiba, another equally well-known manufacturer, began to supplant IMFT in the flash memory market, offering its MLC NAND (manufactured using the 19 nm process technology) at a lower cost. At the same time, the level of quality of the new memory, as practice has shown, is no worse. In the end, Kingston drew attention to it and began to transfer its product lines specifically to Toshiba products.
As a result, under the name Kingston HyperX, users received two fairly different solid-state drives, united by the same name and controller – LSI SandForce SF-2281. And how did this affect the performance level? This moment will be revealed based on the results of testing two copies of HyperX 3K – old and new.

The line of Kingston HyperX 3K drives comes in two different versions of packaging and configuration, which can be distinguished in the seller’s price list by the manufacturer’s code: extended (“Upgrade Kit”) SH103S3B / *** G and minimum SH103S3 / *** G (asterisks – volume in gigabytes). Above there is a divider form made of soft material, in which the CD with the software and the drive itself are located. Under this divider is another similar shape containing a SATA cable, a pen-shaped screwdriver, and an external USB SSD enclosure and cable.
The screwdriver is made in the form of a writing pen:
Removable cap, inside there is a cavity in which three removable stings “hide”: two cruciform, differing in size, and one straight.
The external USB enclosure consists of a plastic sliding cover and an aluminum bottom.
You can open the case by sliding the latch on the side.
Inside is a drive with a thickness of 9 mm with a regular SATA interface.
