Robinhood, the American platform for trading stocks and crypto assets, has received a license from the UK Financial Supervision Authority (FCA) to operate in the country.

The firm said that after receiving approval from the British regulator, its subsidiary, Robinhood International, Ltd. will work as a broker in the UK.

“This permission will allow us to present our investment platform to clients in the UK and will be an important step in achieving our mission to democratize finance.”

For the first time, plans to expand the company in the UK became known in January this year, when the company began to recruit employees for the London office. Wander Rutgers has been appointed President of Robinhood International, who will run the US business and oversee the new London office.

FCA approval follows the receipt of BitLicense, which was issued to Robinhood by the New York City Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) earlier this year. Recall also that last month the Robinhood platform attracted more than $ 300 million of investments.
