ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has announced the new Strix GA15 and GT15 gaming desktops that focus on the fundamentals of games to fit the performance of serious esports into a convenient and portable package. These new Strix gaming desktops, presented at CES 2020, are thin and light, and take advantage of the powerful next-generation processors that allow you to manage games, streaming and multitasking. Each desk is compact and weighs only 10 kg, and a built-in carrying handle offers easy portability. The efficient cooling design helps provide a silent gaming experience that can be maintained in LAN games, tournaments and more.

Excellent games and streaming

GPUs generate the power of pixel thrust necessary to obtain flawless images in recent games. To run the latest titles at high resolutions or at higher refresh rates, the Strix GA15 and GT15 are available with powerful graphics cards – up to NVIDIA® GeForce RTX ™ 2070 SUPER. During the internal tests, these teams have obtained 240 fps with epic details in Full HD in Overwatch, and reach three-digit frame rates with Ultra details in Full HD resolution in the Far Cry 5 sandbox.

This performance is due in part to the NVIDIA Turing architecture behind the GeForce RTX series. Turing combines CUDA, RT and Tensor cores dedicated to programmable shading, real-time ray tracing and AI acceleration to generate more realistic graphics and effects. A new video encoder also improves the ability of the GA15 and the GT15 to transmit and play simultaneously, allowing for higher video quality with a minimal impact on performance. Known as NVENC, this dedicated hardware is optimized to work with video capture programs such as Open Broadcaster Software (OBS), which makes it useful for aspiring streamers.

Multitasking domain

The GA15 and GT15 use the latest third-generation AMD Ryzen® CPUs and the next tenth-generation Intel® Core ™ processors, continuing ROG’s tendency to aggressively adopt the latest technology.

The Strix GA15 is available with up to an AMD Ryzen 7 3800X CPU that has 8 cores and 16 threads to easily handle demanding and varied workloads. These Ryzen chips are built with state-of-the-art 7 nm process technology that fits more cores in less die-cutting area, allowing efficient and cost-effective machines that offer impressive power. Higher configurations add up to 32 GB of high-performance DDR4-3200 MHz RAM, which ensures responsiveness even under heavy loads.

Storage options include a super-fast M.2 NVM Express® SSD based on up to 1TB, which offers ample space for applications. For larger game libraries, the system is available with 2TB of mechanical storage. Users can download AMD StoreMI technology to speed up dual disk configurations. StoreMI caches data that is frequently accessed in the SSD, merging the responsiveness of solid-state storage with the enormous capacity of mechanical units to accelerate loading times.

Cooling brings performance

An efficient cooling design helps to obtain superior performance of the main components. The chassis is a more compact variation of the Wind Shear design that improves air flow and is presented in the high-end Strix GA35 and GT35.

Inside, the components are separated to help minimize thermal interference. The CPU, GPU and motherboard are isolated in the main chamber, while the storage modules and the power supply are located below in a separate cooling zone. This dual chamber design facilitates the cooling of the hottest components. Expanded vents on the exterior panels guide more air into the chassis, which helps dissipate heat and allows the GA15 to produce stealthy noise levels below 35 dB while playing on Metro Exodus.

A convenient transport grip strong enough to support up to 30 kgf of sustained force is integrated into the chassis, which makes it easy to transport anywhere. The folding headphone hook can hold headphones up to 3 kg, and is strong enough to withstand a momentary force of up to 10 kgf.

A personalized experience

The extensive customization features facilitate the customization of these desktops for Strix games. The box comes with an EMI armored glass panel that shows a range of internal components illuminated with RGB light. Customizable lighting also crosses the front of the chassis with a uniformly diffused glow. With compatible Aura Sync devices, such as the ROG Strix Flare mechanical keyboard and the ROG Gladius II gaming mouse, which can be combined with these systems in some regions, it is easy to coordinate colors and effects throughout the configuration.

The ROG Armory Crate software offers many adjustment options for lighting and other system settings. Users can create scenario profiles that automatically load personal preferences when they launch specific games and applications. Scenario profiles detect the active application and adjust the system performance, cooling, lighting and other settings to ensure an ideal configuration for the task in question.

For a more personalized audio experience, Sonic Studio III supports manual customization and offers five specially tuned modes for different types of games. The software allows more surround audio with virtual surround sound for stereo headphones. It also improves recording quality by filtering noise, reducing artifacts and stabilizing the input volume.

Get ready and start

The GA15 and GT15 offer fast charging and data transfer via a reversible USB Type-C ™ (USB-C ™) port with a peak interface bandwidth of 10 Gbps through USB 3.2 Gen 2. The five USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A ports leave room for preferred peripherals and any other device that benefits from rapid data transfer.

An HDMI 2.0b port allows you to play or stream 4K video on the big screen up to 60 Hz. DisplayPort 1.4 outputs are available to control high-speed gaming monitors, including those compatible with NVIDIA G-SYNC® technology, for the experience Play is more fluid.

Gigabit class networks manifest in two ways. Gigabit Ethernet offers a low-latency connection for multiplayer games, while WiFi 5 provides fast wireless access for daily streaming and web browsing. The WiFi card also integrates Bluetooth 5 to cut the cable of compatible devices.
