Ryzen 4000 desktop processors would be compatible with B450 onwards

HD Tecnología

According to the XMG company, the new AMD Ryzen 4000 desktop processors based on the Zen 3 architecture will be compatible with B450 motherboards, hinting that we can place them on any current motherboard with a 400 or 500 series chipset.

This means that motherboards with B450, X470, B550 and X570 chipsets will be compatible with the new processors, simply requiring a bios update to use the new CPUs. In this way, users of these motherboards will be able to upgrade their processor to the new generation, keeping the rest of their system intact, simply by changing the processor and nothing else.

Thanks to this news, AMD fulfills its promise to maintain the compatibility of the AM4 socket until 2020, as promised during its launch in 2017. In any case, this 4000 series will be the last generation for this socket, since next year Ryzen 5000 will incorporate support for DDR5 and possibly PCI-E 5.0, obviously requiring the use of new motherboards.
