Ryzen Threadripper 3000, model with 32 cores and new socket?

The third generation of Ryzen Theadripper is about to be presented on the market (in November) and the new leaked data would seem to reveal the existence of a CPU with 32 cores and compatibility with the SP3r3 socket, third revision of the existing SP3.

Just yesterday we were talking about the possible name of the processors and a tweet from the leaker TUM APISAK it would seem to confirm the name Ryzen Threadripper 3960X for the model with 24 cores, as speculated.

Another “famous” detective of novelties from the hardware world, KOMACHI_ENSAKA, has instead discovered that AMD has released a new Product Master list on its site where it indicates the current products and those that could potentially be sold in the future.

The names on this list won't necessarily hit the market, but this time some very interesting information about new processors would seem to emerge Ryzen Threadripper 3000 (code name Castle Peak).

AMD lists a Ryzen Threadripper not better identified with 32 cores and a 280 W TDP. The Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX , the current spearhead of AMD, has a 250 W TDP. We are therefore faced with one difference of 30 W (12%).

There is no 64-core processor in the list, so the new 3rd generation Ryzen Threadripper chips will likely have a maximum of 32 cores, the same number of chips from the previous generation. But this is only a hypothesis.

Another interesting point concerns the sockets for Threadripper 3000 processors. The first and second generation Ryzen Threadrippers are installed in socket TR4, also called sSP3r2 ocket. The new document refers instead to socket SP3r3 (TR4 +?), which appears to be the third revision of the existing SP3 socket.

The new CPUs should therefore require new motherboards, as anticipated, also because AMD has registered three new chipsets (TRX40, TRX80 and WRX80) at the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) in August.

Furthermore, the rumors of these weeks do not exclude that i TRX80 and WRX80 chipset support eight memory channels. As for the initial range of models, AMD has so far only confirmed the 24 core, so the 32 core and possible models with multiple cores could arrive later.
