Sapphire Radeon R9 Fury Tri-X in pictures and specifications online

It is now not far to go until AMD launches the Radeon R9 Fury, which, unlike the R9 Fury X, is built around a scaled-down variant of the Fiji graphics circuit with HBM memory. What makes the model perhaps more interesting than the company’s latest flagship, however, is that partners are given free rein to develop their own tailor-made solutions.

Earlier this week, the R9 Fury Strix from Asus found out on the web and this time it’s Sapphire’s turn. These are two models with the company’s well-reputed cooling solution Tri-X, consisting of a solid cooling flange with three fans that together take up 2.5 expansion places and are 30.6 centimeters long.

Interesting in this context is that Sapphire, despite a solid cooling solution, has chosen to use AMD’s reference design for the circuit board. This means that the third fan can blow all the air past the graphics card itself, something that can have a positive effect on the cooling provided that the ventilation in the chassis is good.

For the specifications, 3,584 stream processors are confirmed and for the basic model, the clock frequency is 1,000 MHz – not 1,050 MHz as previous information has claimed. In addition to this, the graphics card comes in a factory overclocked version of 1,040 MHz. In both cases, the graphics processor is accompanied by 4 GB of HBM memory in 1,000 MHz for a bandwidth of 512 GB / s.

As the circuit board is of reference design, just like for the Radeon R9 Fury X, double 8-pin PCI Express is required for power supply. Also in terms of video connections, no surprises are noticeable with three Displayport 1.2 and one HDMI 1.4a, where version 2.0 still shines with its absence.

The sales start for the Radeon R9 Fury will take place on Tuesday, July 14.
