Steam hits a new record of 27 million simultaneous players

Steam

Steam will end the year with a new record under his arm, and it is that last weekend the platform managed to overcome the barrier of 27 million simultaneous users, specifically the record was set in the 27.1 million simultaneous users (27,182,165), thus surpassing the previous record set a couple of months ago of 26.9 million users (in April to be exact).

The reasons for this record is a sum of everything, the incorporation of some free games, offers, and of course, the resurgence of the pandemic, with some regions of the planet re-shielding themselves from COVID-19.

When we know the most important data, the record loses value, and that is that of those 27.1 million users, only 7.83 million were playing at the same time, that is, 18 million users had Steam open in the background, and don’t deny it, if you are visiting us from the PC, and you usually play, surely you will have Steam always open in the background for nothing, even though You have not played for months every day you have it in the background, which helps to inflate this data.

At the time of writing, Steam presents 19 million connected users simultaneously, of which, 4.2 million are playing right now, being el Counter Strike: Global Offensive the most popular of them all with 849,144 players, followed by DOTA 2 (663K), PUBG (241K). Closing the Top 5, we have other games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and New World.
