Antec, well known for its high quality boxes, at least in its early days where it never stopped innovating (for example with the P180 which was a box that revolutionized the genre) nevertheless saw many competitors arrive and even overtake it. on its own land. Today our friends from Antec want to restore the brand’s crest by offering a very high-end case with 3 separate compartments (storage, power supply and motherboard), 4mm thick aluminum, separate doors as well. only an almost indecent number of fans (7 original), in short, heavy! Not only heavy in terms of functionality but also weight which will clearly not be a good point for those who walk around with their case, 18 kg!
On the price side, the very high-end jumps directly in the face with a painful € 549, yes it stings and we are really far from the box of mister all-around but will all this riot of high-end features and materials justify it? This is what we will see!

Suffice to say that the Antec S10 case is a big beast, 17.7 kg on the scale, 60 cm high, 58 cm deep and 23 cm wide, it is clear that the person looking for a discreet case can continue to search, here we are in heavy and imposing! With these extraordinary dimensions, the largest motherboards are of course compatible (E-ATX), the graphics card can go up to a good 34 cm (so all the cards on the market are compatible) and the processor cooler can be used. extend up to 16.5cm, which means that it will be possible to put anything and everything in there without asking too many questions.

Regarding storage the S10 offers a good number of locations, in the reserved compartment we are entitled to 6 x 3.5 ″ and 3 x 2.5 ″ while in the power compartment is a 5 x 2.5 cage. ″, If you can manage to complete all of this then it will be time to invest in a storage cabinet: p

The other point on which Antec has definitely worked is ventilation, the original S10 comes with 3 fans of 12 cm in the middle (the motherboard compartment), 2 x 14 cm above, 1 x 12 cm at the rear and 1 x 12 cm for the drive compartment, the only optional fan is located in the power supply compartment (which is not really mandatory). With its 7 original fans, it goes without saying that unless there is divine intervention, the components should breathe properly. In addition to the fans, Antec has of course thought about watercooling, it will be possible to install a 240/280 mm radiator above, a 240/280/360 in the center as well as a small 120 at the rear, enough to accommodate many configurations.

In addition to all this some additional features are part, a HUB (therefore which only supplies 12V) for 10 3-pin fans, two doors on each side of the beast for easy access to either hard drives or to the motherboard, dust filters wherever needed as well as the installation of all 3.5 ″ or 2.5 ″ peripherals without screws.
Regarding the price we border on indecency with 549 €, it is aimed at a very small portion of users, those for whom nothing is expensive enough when looking for quality, let’s see if the latter is verified here!

Antec_Signature_S10_boite1
Antec_Signature_S10_boite2

The least we can say is that Antec didn’t want to do anything superfluous here, a black side and a white side with photos of the beast, one in profile and one on the side, and that’s it. ! It is clear that sobriety was a point that was taken seriously for the S10.

Antec_Signature_S10_boite3

Given the weight and size of the beast Antec decided to put an opening system like on televisions, namely 4 plastic clips that must be removed at the bottom of the cardboard, once removed, simply remove the top cardboard without forcing (and therefore without breaking your back, thank you!). Inside we can see that the S10 is surrounded by 2 large polystyrene molds which will be responsible for taking the costs instead of the box itself.

Antec_Signature_S10_bundle

The bundle consists of:

  • 4 x black sata cables
  • 6 x plastic cable ties
  • 1 x cleaning cloth
  • 1 x manual (very thick)
  • 1 x warranty leaflet
  • The necessary screws

How we can see it Antec does not go to the minimum here, in addition to the eternal screws and the manual (which is its weight this time) we find a cloth to polish the beast as well as 4 black sata cables with one of the 2 ends elbows. The bundle is therefore rather full, the opposite would have been a little unwelcome given the price of the S10.

Antec_Signature_S10

Here is the beast! Suffice to say that Antec has worked here to offer an atypical box that stands out completely from what the competitors do! Besides the enormous size of the beast, the presence of 4mm aluminum in the door guide will not leave anyone indifferent. Let’s take a closer look at all of this.

Antec_Signature_S10_exterieur2_devant

The front facade is for its part in plastic, a foolproof sobriety with only the Antec logo in silver letters at the bottom, difficult to do more mat. The build quality even if the whole is in plastic is very good.

Antec_Signature_S10_exterieur5-1_dessous_compartiment_hdd

Under the facade we see the ventilation grid which will allow the fan of the storage compartment to blow downwards.

Antec_Signature_S10_exterieur3_derriere

At the back there is not much to say, besides the large number of perforated brackets (10 to be precise) and the 2 holes present for a possible water-cooling system there is a honeycomb grid for the 12 cm fan provided. We can also see that the doors are on hinges, which allows them to be opened or closed at will.

Antec_Signature_S10_exterieur5-2_dessous_compartiment_alimentation
Antec_Signature_S10_exterieur5-3_filtre_alimentation

Under the power supply a removable filter is present, of very good quality even if it seems a little restrictive for my taste.

Antec_Signature_S10_exterieur5_dessous

The underside is made entirely of plastic, no rubber feet on the horizon, a simple plastic plate.

Antec_Signature_S10_exterieur4_above

Above there is a plastic grid which covers almost the entire surface, a surface which is not rectangular, but thinner at the front than at the back. A plastic cover is delivered as standard and which apparently serves to hold the doors during transport, after several tests it appears that the doors can still be opened with the cover, so the interest is still more limited.

Antec_Signature_S10_exterieur4-1_connectique

The front connector consists of 4 USB 3.0 ports as well as the eternal 3.5mm jack ports for the microphone and the headphones. At the center of all this is a dual-use button which is used to turn the PC on or off but also to reset by leaving it pressed. On my test copy the button is not in very good condition, indeed one of the two sides is sinking and does not seem to be held, I would have it bad if I was a buyer.

Antec_Signature_S10_exterieur1_cote

The sides of the S10 are very interesting and really atypical, indeed we are in the presence of 2 ports on each side, the right door on the photo gives on the compartment of hard disks 3.5 ″ and 3 x 2.5 ″, between the 2 ports a space which serves as an air inlet for the left compartment which houses the rest of the configuration. The doors are aluminum but 4mm thick which makes them heavy and imposing. To facilitate the opening of the doors a plastic lever is present between them, it is at the top of the photo (it is written “Door” on it!), It is enough to press to open them. The build quality at all is really excellent there is absolutely nothing to say about it, moreover the brushed aluminum is really very successful.
Without further ado, let’s open up the beast to see what’s in its belly!

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur1_tout

We can see the compartments better now! On the right are the 3.5 ″ and 3 x 2.5 ″ hard disks, on the left the top compartment is of course reserved for components and the bottom is reserved for power as well as 2.5 ″ disks / SSDs. Antec was doing during the P180 era. It doesn’t look bad the beast is really very spacious, and everything is really very good quality. It’s time to take a little tour of the owner.

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur2_compartiment_dd

The hard disks part of the S10 is arranged over 3 floors, each floor accommodates 2 3.5 ″ disks as well as a 2.5 ″ disk:

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur2-1_compartiment_3_disques

Each support is soft plastic bordering on rubber, we put the hard drive inside (without screws) and slide it into its location, note that each location is rubber in order to limit vibrations as much as possible. The 2.5 ″ drive / SSD fits on the right, just push it into the slot!

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur2-2_filtre_compartiment_hdd
Antec_Signature_S10_interieur2-4_filtre_compartiment_hdd

At the top of this part a removable filter is present, of very good quality once again but a little restrictive with all this plastic.

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur2-3_ventilateur_compartiment_hdd

A dedicated fan is present for the hard disks, it is located at the bottom and also spits the hot air downwards, hence the dust filter in the high position.

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur1-1

Now let’s move on to the most important part of the S10 from Antec, the one that houses the bulk of the configuration. The least we can say is that the ventilation is omnipresent, indeed there are 3 fans of 12 cm in intake at the front, 2 of 14 cm in extraction above as well as 1 of 12 cm at the rear. still in extraction. The rubber grommets are of course included as well as the cutout at the back of the motherboard for installing a cooler once it is in place.

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur3_ventilateur

The 12 cm suction fans are a variant of the now well-known Antec two cool, they are fixed on a removable plate and behind a huge removable filter accessible from the outside:

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur3-1_ventilateurs
Antec_Signature_S10_interieur3-2_filtre_ventilateurs

Thanks to this, it will be very easy to change the fans and clean the dust filter.

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur4_ventilateur

The 12cm fan on the back is the same as the others on the front.

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur10_ventilateurs_above

The 2 14 cm fans located above, which will be responsible for expelling the air outside the tower, are also fixed on a removable plate for easy and quick change.

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur5_equerres

The same openwork squares as usual with Antec here, all black and held by hand screws, a great classic!

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur6_dessus_alimentation

A solid steel panel is present separating the power supply from the rest of the components, an arrangement which was revolutionary in the days of the P180 allowing the power supply to be installed at the bottom of the case and separating it from the rest of the PC long before the power supply installed at the bottom is not the norm with other manufacturers.

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur7_alimentation

Under this plate there is a location for the power supply which is accompanied by 2 large strips of foam ensuring on the one hand an increased air supply because it will not be stuck to the restrictive enough grid and on the other hand a damping of the possible vibrations.

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur8_compartiment_alimentation_hdd

Installing 2.5 ″ drives / SSDs couldn’t be easier, just open the latch, push the drives into the rails and close, and that’s it!

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur11_arriere

At the back apart from the different compartments there is not much to say, except that to connect the hard disks / SSDs of the compartment dedicated to the storage to the motherboard it will necessarily go through the bottom, therefore pay attention to the length of the cables.

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur12_rheobus_arriere

The small HUB is able to power 10 3-pin fans in 12V, be careful it is not possible to regulate (directly in any case) the fans, if they are connected to them they will work fully.

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur13_passe_cables_arriere

The space between the motherboard and the door is fair without being exceptional but on the other hand I see something here that could be a problem even before mounting the configuration, there is only the left part which will allow to pass the cables from the power supply to the motherboard, which means that the cable going to the processors will have to be very long considering the size of the case, we will see that later.

Antec_Signature_S10_interieur15_cables_connectique

The connection could not be more classic, 2 USB 3.0 connectors (also USB 2.0 compatible) as well as the audio connector (HD or AC 97 compatible), in addition to the eternal wires of the LEDs, power button etc.

The configuration used during the tests is as follows:

A rather large configuration therefore due to its huge cooler and the 3 slots taken by the graphics card. The Antec S10 will be tested once with 5V fans and once in 12V with only the SSD connected. Another test will take place at 5V with the Raptor hard drive connected, it being literally hell in terms of its vibrations, which will allow us to see the effectiveness of the silentblocs.

Antec_Signature_S10_montage_ avant

The assembly in the S10 went very well overall, one thing however comes a little tarnish the picture, the weight of the beast, indeed it is quite complicated to move the configuration in all directions (to install the motherboard at dish for example), but logically it will only have to be done once 😀

Another weight that should be taken into consideration when purchasing is the length of the cables, as you can see with the be quiet! Straight Power Pro 9 the 4 + 4-pin CPU cable was too short to reach the top of the motherboard through the back (the need as I feared above at the notch at the rear very badly located) so it had to be passed through the interior, the same for the PCIe cables which were also too short. This does not change anything in terms of the air flow because the cables are glued to the wall but some will find fault, especially since for PCIe it would have just been necessary to place additional grommets. Let’s also talk about the cable glands which have the annoying tendency to come loose at the slightest passage of the cable,

Besides these little worries related to the gigantic size of the S10 there is really nothing to complain about, it is easy to work inside, the installation of hard disks / SSD is done very quickly and with ease etc.

Antec_Signature_S10_montage_arriere

At the rear as we can see all the cables must pass to the left in the notch provided for this purpose, a shame not to have provided several all along (this would have allowed the CPU cable to be passed). You will also need a power supply that has sata cables very far apart if you want to connect a hard drive at the top left in the storage compartment. Another thing, although the space for the cables is sufficient, you have to be very careful not to make too big bundles otherwise you will not be able to close the door, which even if it holds sufficiently well in place once closed. can no longer reluctant to do so if the cable bundle is too thick.

In order to test the box, I will carry out an OCCT Power Supply test for 30mins and then take the temperatures of the main components such as the processor (average of the 4 cores), the motherboard, the graphics card as well as the hard drive.

Read This Now:   Test - Corsair Carbide 400C White|Specs | CPU | Hashrate

Regarding noise pollution, I will proceed as in the file on silent PCs namely 1 statement in front, right, left, rear and above.

The Antec Signature S10 will face the case used for the silent pc backrest, the Corsair Carbide 300R modified for the needs of the same backrest as well as the be quiet! Silent base 800, Cooler Master Silencio 652S, Fractal Design Define R5 and Antec P380.

Repos

Antec_Signature_S10_resultats_repos_temperatures

At rest, the temperatures are really very good in the Antec S10, no wonder, however, with 7 fans running. Only the hard drive is a little hot because the fan does not blow directly on it, nothing serious however a raptor tends to heat up very quickly anyway. Compared to its brother the P380 the S10 offers roughly the same results in terms of the processor and the motherboard, on the other hand the graphics card heats up a little more (perhaps due to the proximity of a metal panel).

Antec_Signature_S10_resultats_repos_nuisances_sonores

Ambient sound level: 31dB

In 5V the sound level of the beast is really very good considering the 7 fans installed with a maximum of 35 dB above and behind. The addition of the Raport hard drive only brings a marginal change, in fact the vibrations are very well contained and do not propagate to the chassis, only the noise of the drive itself is heard from above and increases by a small dB the sound level. We can safely say that if the fans are set to minimum the S10 will be very quiet, even with a hard drive that vibrates a lot, and this is really not common.
In 12V on the other hand despite a fairly limited rotation speed the fans are clearly heard, we are far from the P380 which blows really very hard but the S10 will not go unnoticed. However, we must put into perspective compared to the comparison boxes which are all more or less studied for silence, the S10 is not silent but is not annoying either, far from it!

Antec_Signature_S10_resultats_repos_pwm

Nothing to report here, as the vast majority of cases in the test, the fans remain at their base RPM, ie 600 RPM for the processor and 500 RPM for the graphics card.

Charge

Antec_Signature_S10_resultats_charge_temperatures

No surprises here with its 7 fans, the S10 from Antec can cool the components in a very nice way, very slightly less than an Antec P380 that said, certainly due to the fans running slower and the dust filter slightly less restrictive on the latter. The processor reaches a maximum of 62 ° under load when the fans run at 5V for 58 ° when the beast is at full speed, the graphics card goes from 65 ° to 62 ° and the motherboard from 38 ° to 37 ° .
It turns out that any configuration in the S10 will be very well cooled, even when an SLI / Crossfire kicks in.

Antec_Signature_S10_resultats_charge_nuisances_sonores

Ambient sound level: 31dB

With its 7 5V fans the noise pollution is really very contained, in fact the air flow created by all these fans does not make the fans rise much in the towers, suddenly the noise pollution remains very low with a maximum of 38 dB behind, which in the end represents one of the best results of the comparison, knowing that the other boxes arrive at the same result but with higher temperatures 😉

In 12V on the other hand the results do not differ compared to rest, the fans of the components do not rotating not fast enough to stand out from the noise generated by the box fans, so we stay at a maximum of 43 dB at the rear.

Antec_Signature_S10_resultats_charge_pwm

Thanks once again to all its fans the S10 allows the fans of the processor and the graphics card to run at a very slow speed, namely 750 RPM for the processor whether in 5V or 12V against 700 RPM for the graphics card in 5V and 640 in 12V. It is clear that the airflow is excellent in the Antec S10.

Antec_Signature_S10_random

Here we are at the end of this test, what about the Antec Signature S10?
A real monster in every sense of the word, a look that will not leave anyone indifferent, a lot of space available for the largest configurations, a lot of ventilation thanks to the 7 fans supplied as standard, high-end materials in large quantities, excellent performance and low noise level, here is what sums up the Antec S10!

In addition to all these strengths, however, there are some small questionable points, such as the length of the cables necessary to connect the entire configuration via the back of the motherboard and the presence of a single hub for the fans and not a rheobus capable of regulating the speed of the latter. The weight can also be a small brake, with almost 20kg empty, you won’t have to think too much about moving it every day!

Antec is daring here with an S10 that goes completely off the beaten track and proves that the brand still has some nice leftovers, but the price of € 549 only destines the S10 for an elite willing to pay the price it necessary for a box that stands out.
Should we recommend the S10? Despite some small flaws that will certainly not fail to be corrected if you want to have a box that slams to drool the neighbors with the latest gamer config of death then the latest from Antec will be a very good candidate, for those who are looking for a “classic” case then go your way for a much less expensive model.
