[Test] Gigabyte RTX 2080 Super Gaming OC
| Specs | Price –
Hi all !
When everyone’s on vacation, our little hardware community clearly doesn’t have their toes fanned out on the beach, because after the Radeon RX 5700/5700 XT and RTS 2060 Super / 2070 Super, it’s the RTX 2080 Super which is in our lab for a test! This new GPU replaces the RTX 2080 (which has performance too close to the RTX 2070S) for the same call price of € 745. To find out what is in his stomach, we have found a card for you from Gigabyte, the RTX 2080 Super Gaming OC.

We only come back very quickly to the technical characteristics of the GPU present in the RTX 2080 Super, because they have already been presented in our previous report. The GPU is therefore based on a completely unlocked TU104, consisting of 48 SMs for 3072 CUDA cores and 368 Tensor cores, instead of the 46, 2944 and 368 of the classic RTX 2080. In addition to a slight increase in raw power, NVIDIA has also increased the frequency of the memory, from 1750 to 1937 MHz. This is certainly the only way left to increase performance, without going through the big (and expensive) TU102 of the RTX 2080 Ti and Titan.
In addition to that, the frequency increases, from 1515 to 1650 MHz base and 1710 to 1815 MHz in turbo mode. Note that the Founders Edition version of the RTX 2080 is an overclocked version of the “basic” RTX 2080, capping at 1800 MHz in boost mode. The Gigabyte RTX 2080 Super Gaming OC stands out with a slight overclocking of 20 MHz in turbo mode, topping out at 1835 MHz. The TDP is also seen increased, from 215 to 250 Watts, there will be more margin at the level of the maximum frequency than on the RTX 2080 first of the name.
