I no longer present Seasonic, probably one of the best (if not the best) manufacturers of power supplies on the market, after the different models tested here I am going to present to you today a power supply that clearly comes out of the ordinary namely the Snow Silent 750! Seasonic has never done anything other than sober and classic, but it’s over today with an all-white model. As its name suggests, the power supply is capable of delivering 750 Watts, high efficiency will be ensured by the 80Plus Platinum certification and noise pollution should be very contained thanks to the FDB (“Fluid Dynamic Bearing”) fan.

On the other hand, who says Seasonic says a generally rather high price, this is the case here with the Snow Silent 750 which is negotiated around 190 €, which is much higher than competing power supplies, let’s see if the flashy look and silence of operation will be worth this sum.

We can say that sober is the order of the day, an all-white cardboard box with only the brand’s logo, the power, the model as well as the 80Plus Platinum logo and a tiny photo of the beast in one corner.

At the rear as usual a complete listing of the strengths of the beast, namely the 80Plus Platinum certification which will ensure excellent performance, 100% Japanese capacitors, very tight voltage regulation and a hybrid ventilation mode ( passive at rest and is activated from a certain temperature) or “normal”.

On the side a table shows all the technical characteristics of the Snow Silent 750, dimensions, protections in place, number of connectors etc. There is also a table showing the distribution of power.

To remove the cardboard from the cover Seasonic welcomes us with a smile, hello!

Once the box is open we come across a fairly classic vision from Seasonic, except that everything is white instead of the usual black! On the left a box containing the modular cables and the bundle, on the right the manual and a small sheet saying that it would be good to connect the cards that consume more than 225 Watts on 2 different PCIe cables (instead of a single cable that gives access to 2 connectors), under the manual a foam mold protecting the power supply unit.

Under this foam the beast is there! We do not change a winning team and the velvet type bag is present, but blacn this time! I think Seasonic wants us to understand that we are in the presence of a white product 😉

As we can see the bundle is rather well supplied the cable ties can be useful for a clean assembly, for the rest we are in the great classic.

We finally discover the beast! Let’s say it right away as it will be done, the quality of the whole is simply exceptional, the paintwork is of high quality, the block is heavy and solid. Let’s take a closer look!

On the top we are in the presence of a honeycomb-shaped grid, classic grid but the shiny metal is really the most beautiful effect, a Seasonic logo is inlaid and gives a clearly very high-end appearance. It can be seen in addition to the white paint on the casing that the ventilater itself is also white.

Below is a sticker showing the power distribution table as well as the serial number and the various logos of use.

Great class on the sides with an engraved S as well as the name of the model, sober but clearly classy. Everything here is top of the range.
On the other hand, we see that Seasonic has designed its power supply to be placed with the fan facing the top of the box, indeed if you put the fan towards the bottom of the box (as thought in almost all boxes on the market) and you have the visible side upside down, like this:

It’s not much, but it’s a shame for those who seek above all the look in their configuration 😉

The Seasonic Snow Silent 750 is therefore 100% modular, there are the 2 connectors for the 24-pin (one of which is not delimited like on the other models at the bottom left, the information is sent back to Seasonic!) , 5 for peripherals and 6 for CPU / PCIe. A sticker is present showing the button which is used to adjust the behavior of the ventilation, on “Normal” the fan will run all the time while the “Hybrid” mode will allow semi-fanless operation (see the sticker here).

The platform here is well known, based on the XP2 that we find on the P and X series but with some small changes, renamed for the occasion XP2 S ! There are 100% Japanese capacitors, it is difficult to find better on the market for the moment. Ah yes, to perfect it and go with the white of the rest of the power supply even the PCB has been painted white!

The fan is entrusted to Hong Hua with its model HA1225M12F-Z rotating at a maximum speed of 2050 RPM for a given consumption of 5.4 Watts (maximum), an “FDB” model as mentioned by Seasonic ensuring a lower noise than a rolling bearing. balls while keeping a very long lifespan. As you can also see, the white is still there 😀

The number of connectors available should be sufficient for 99% of the configurations, it will be possible to make an SLI / Crossfire thanks to the 4 PCIe connectors, 2 processors, a large number of Sata or IDE devices, a priori there will be no need additional splitters or adapters.
All cables are flat, apart from the sheathed 24-pin, the build quality is once again excellent and they exude quality. The length of the cables is very good, no problem with the 8-pin processor in a large tower for example! Note that there are no cables equipped with double PCIe connectors, if you want to connect a graphics card which has 2 PCIe connectors you will need 2 cables!

A small point that could have gone hand in hand with the power supply, white cables! Everything is so white that cables of the same color would have been good

The little baby from Seasonic is rather well supplied in Watts, 744 Watts on the single 12V rail (62A), 125 Watts on the + 3.3V and 5V combined as well as 15 Watts on the -12V, as you already know. more important in a PC nowadays is the 12V which enters for more than 90% of the total consumption. Basically, the Snow Silent 750 will be able to power more than 99% of configurations, even the largest with no offense to people who do not know what it is talking about

High-end power supply requires Seasonic to equip its Snow Silent with an 80Plus Platinum certification ensuring an efficiency of up to 94% at 50% load (in Europe), this will clearly help the power supply to remain at a very low noise level being given the little heat to evacuate. The ventilation is entrusted to a fan “FDB” from Hong Hua which should prove particularly silent (as long as it does not turn fully of course!)
Regarding the dimensions we exceed the “standard” dimensions a little. , with 17 cm in length it will be necessary to be sure that the beast fits into the case.
The guarantee is as usual on the high-end Seasonic 7-year products, enough to see it coming and to think that the 190 € spent to acquire the power supply will be amortized to a minimum!

The test protocol

The core i7 875K has been slightly overclocked to 3.2Ghz. The readings in charge were taken during an OCCT Power Supply test, the readings at rest were taken after 15mins on the desk.

The consumption

Before starting, let’s take a look at the performance of the power supplies compared to the Seasonic Snow Silent 750, indeed the different 80Plus certifications will directly influence consumption, so this will be a good way to have concrete results. Only the S12 600 does not have an 80Plus certification because it did not yet exist at the time of purchase (but the following versions of this power supply had the classic 80Plus certification, so 80% / 80% / 80% to 20% respectively / 50% / 100% load).

We can say that it is really a faultless for the Seasonic Snow Silent 750 in terms of consumption, indeed with 74 Watts at rest for the complete configuration it simply signs the best result of all the power supplies in the comparison, by little certainly, but it is still in front!
In load the results are confirmed, indeed it is very well placed in the 80Plus Platinum power supplies with its 344 Watts, this is certainly not the best result but all the power supplies are held in a pocket square here (from 342 to 345 Watts).

The tensions

What to say, the Seasonic Snow Silent 750 is quite simply of a foolproof stability, in fact the 12V remains at 12.06V whether at rest or in charge, the 5V at 5.05V and the 3.3V goes from 3.38V to 3.37V, which is still really excellent. Note that the power supply is very far from being in its last limits, but the 344 Watts represent rather well the consumption of a high-end “gamer” configuration nowadays (equipped with a GTX970 or 980 for example, no no it does not consume 600 Watts).
For the moment the Snow Silent 750 clearly has everything going for it, a very contained consumption and a foolproof stability, nothing which is however not surprising when one speaks about Seasonic and its top-of-the-range models, now is the beast keeps its promises in terms of noise? I invite you to see this right away!

Noise pollution

Warning: Part to be taken with a grain of salt, unfortunately not having access to the appropriate equipment and using an android application to take the readings The measurements below are only indicative! The readings were taken 15cm from the feed.

Well we can say that it is a “perfect” for the Seasonic Snow Silent 750, whether it is in charge or at rest the fan has not started. So as you can well imagine there is not the slightest difference at 15cm compared to the ambient sound level, everything is good 😀 On the
other hand, and as usual with Seasonic a very slight electronic noise is heard when you stick your ear to the power supply, the noise disappears within 15cm, nothing that will be heard in a box, very far from it! On the other hand, this little noise is even less audible (for my test copy) than on the other Seasonics that I have had in my hands, coincidence or generality? Unless I have a lot of copies in my hands I could not say.

Here we are at the end of this test, what to say about the Seasonic Snow Silent 750?
Buy it! Uh no wait you must first do a little summary, if you were too lazy to read and you have come straight to the conclusion! Foolproof stability, top-of-the-range internal components, top performance thanks to the 80Plus Platinum certification, cathedral silence and an exceptional finish thanks to a high-end white paint that will delight fans of products coming out of the market. ordinary, this is what comes out of the Seasonic Snow Silent 750.

To be picky (because you have to) I would say that the only thing missing here is the white paint on the modular cables, everything has been done to be white (even going so far as to paint the PCB) so why not? 😉 Apart from that there will be only one thing, and not the least that will be able to prevent everyone from passing the course, the price! Indeed at 190 € the unit (accompanied by a 7-year warranty all the same) there is no doubt that it stings strongly and places the beast at the top of the basket for a 750 Watts power supply but Seasonic offers here this which is the best in terms of power, a product of choice for those who want the best of the best for their big gamer config.
