After some very convincing coolers we are back at SilentiumPC but with a case this time, the last of the brand I named the Gladius M35 Pure Black! A price battle rages on for the entry level with more or less convincing products, SilentiumPC as usual wants to offer a product with a foolproof quality / price ratio, which is why the Gladius M35 is launched at around 50 €! On the program we have a sober case, 2 fans of 12cm but an internal layout that is clearly not a pale copy of what we currently find on the market at this price. Let’s take a closer look!

The least we can say is that for the Gladius M35 has serious advantages for its price. It is of course compatible with all motherboards up to ATX format, is made of steel and plastic for very classic dimensions of 48.6 cm in length by 50.2 cm in height and 20 cm in width and a rather light weight. of 6.3 kg. In addition to these classic characteristics, the Gladius M35 is compatible with a cooler up to 16.1 cm in height and a graphics card 41.5 cm in length (good luck!), Enough to install a rather muscular configuration if you are reasonable in terms of the cooler. processor!
The storage is not left in the dark despite the removal of the slots for 3.5 ″ hard disks normally installed in front of the graphics card because it will be possible to install 2 in front of the power supply (2.5 ″ compatible), in plus 3 dedicated 2.5 ″ slots and removable 5.25 ″ peripheral plate. It is clear that the box will not be made for a file server with 3.5 ″ disks, but for classic use it will be sufficient in 99% of cases.
The cooling capacity is also very good in the Gladius M35, in total there are 5 slots for fans, 2 x 12 or 14 cm at the front, 1 x 12 cm at the rear and 2 x 12 cm above , 2 Sigma Pro fans rotating at a maximum speed of 1200 RPM are delivered as standard (1 at the front and 1 at the rear).
When you normally find in a box at this price only 2 USB connectors on the SilentiumPC front panel supplied 4, 2 x USB 2.0 and 2 x USB 3.0, which is a very good thing for those who (like me) never have enough of connectors!
In addition to all this, these gentlemen did not stop there by offering a power supply / hard disks cover that will delight PC fans with a sober and clean look (even if there is no window), anti- dust as well and above all as 2 rheobus 3 speeds (Low, High and fans off) capable of controlling a maximum of 5 fans!
As you can see, we clearly get what we pay for with the 50 € requested for the purchase of this Gladius M35 Pure Black, it far surpasses the boxes at this price in terms of equipment.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_box1

The box could not be more sober, the cardboard displays a representation of the case as well as the brand and model. A list of strong points is also present (4 x USB, rheobus, graphics card up to 41.5 cm etc.). The absence of pompous marketing is also a plus! I did not take a photo of the opposite side as it is identical except for the fact that it is in Polish!

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_box2

On the sides we find the technical characteristics of the Gladius M35, color, fans, weight and dimensions.
Inside the box we find the Gladius M35 in a plastic bag caught between 2 polystyrene molds, I forgot to take a photo so we will do without 😀

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_bundle2
SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_bundle1

The bundle consists of:

  • 1 x quick install leaflet
  • 1 x “buzzer” to install on the motherboard
  • 4 x USB covers
  • 2 x 3.5mm jack covers
  • 5 x plastic cable ties
  • The necessary screws

The SilentiumPC Gladius M35 Pure Black bundle is really very interesting, and more extensive than most of the competitors. In addition to the eternal and mandatory screws necessary to fix the various components, the brand has decided to go further by offering a buzzer which can be practical in case of starting problems, cable ties as well as covers to be installed on the ports. USB and 2.5mm jack not used, I have never seen this in the bundle of a box and it’s a really good idea!

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black

Here is the beast! One thing is certain, SilentiumPC has decided to do in the sober here, the Gladius M35 is all dressed in black and only the air vents / filters stand out from the tower. Despite the light weight of 6.3 Kg the whole is solid and clearly does not seem ready to break on the first shock like some other entry-level boxes. The joints are clean, no sharp edges, in short a finish which is frankly very good especially for a case at 50 €!

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_exterieur_facade1
SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_exterieur_facade2

The front facade shows a sober case of very good quality and the plastic is of good quality. A grid takes up the majority of the surface here and the logo is affixed in its center. The only small weak point that I would find with this facade is that it is rather restrictive, the air will be very difficult to pass through here, but an opening is present below which should help.
Once the front has been removed we fall on the 12cm fan installed originally, a Sigma Pro 120 rotating at a maximum of 1200 RPM, itself in front of a grille, a pity that this is present, the air flow would have been better without but it is however much less restrictive than what one can often find.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_exterieur_dessus

The top is made of good quality steel, as you can see there is no room for extravagance!

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_exterieur_dessus_filtre1
SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_exterieur_dessus_filtre2

The dust filter is removable and magnetic, in this way it will be very easy to remove it for cleaning, below the latter is a grid identical to what can be found at the front.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_exterieur_dessus_connectique

The connection is very well supplied, 2 x USB 2.0, 2 x USB 3.0 as well as the eternal 3.5mm jacks for the headphones and the microphone. There is also a very small reset button, the power button of course, an activity LED of the disks as well as on the right the 2 rheobus 3 speeds.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_exterieur_dessous

Below we can see that the box is raised in order to leave the field open to the air which will rush forward and towards the power supply, a dust filter is present in front of the latter’s fan. The Gladius will rest on 4 foam pads in order to isolate any vibrations from the surface on which it is placed, SilentiumPC is keen to keep its brand image of silent products!

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_exterieur_arriere

At the rear nothing out of the ordinary, except that the installed fan can be moved up and down as we wish. The extension brackets are perforated to allow air flow to the outside.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_exterieur_cote

No need to draw you a picture, the sides are foolproof, everything could not be more black! A quick note on the side panels which are therefore made of steel but quite thick and rather rigid, nothing to do with certain other entry-level boxes which give the impression of folding themselves.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur

Here is the interior of the beast! Everything is well ventilated here with the absence of 3.5 ″ drive cages in front of the graphics card, in addition to having a metal bar which will be used to accommodate 5.25 ″ peripherals. The most striking thing here is without a doubt the 3.5 ″ power supply and drive cover, this will give a much cleaner mounting and an easy way to hide cables. Let’s take a closer look at all of this.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_ventilateur_arriere
SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_ventilateur_front

Both fans are of very good quality, featuring the brand’s logo in the center. The grille at the front allows the placement of radiators inside the tower in addition to the fans installed outside behind the grille.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_place_avant

At the bottom and between the grid and the power supply / disks cover is a space which will allow to precisely install the possible radiator of a watercooling system.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_dessus

The same grille which is on the front is also present above and will allow the evacuation of the air of the fans which would be installed there.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_SSD

There are 2 slots for installing SSDs, which will stick directly against the wall, between the graphics card and the front grille.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_525

5.25 ″ peripherals can be fixed by the small metal bracket above, but only by the first row of holes, at least there is no 5.25 ″ cage to spoil the scenery!

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_passe_cables1
SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_passe_cables2

Many locations are present in order to pass the cables wherever we want in the tower and will allow for the cleanest possible cabling!

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_equerres

The 7 extension brackets are perforated and are held by hand screws, which could very well have been conventional screws on a case of this price, so a little more sympathetic.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_arriere

The rear is made up of two parts, the top one is essentially identical to anything that can be found on the market, namely a large opening for fixing the cooler and holes to bring out the cables. In addition to that the bottom part which is independent from the rest takes care of the hard drives and the power supply, let’s take a closer look.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_arriere_alimentation

The power supply is also entitled to a little special treatment with foam feet that will help absorb any vibrations that could be transmitted to the case.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_arriere_disques_hard

A cage where it will be possible to install 2 3.5 ″ / 2.5 ″ disks is present.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_arriere_disques_hard2

Each cart is plastic and allows for tool-free installation of a 3.5 ″ drive, the 2.5 ″ are also compatible but will require screws to secure them.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_arriere_ssd

As SilentiumPC likes to use all the available space, it will also be possible to install an SSD on the back, via the removable plate above.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_connectique1

The front connector cables are very classic, namely that they are all black and of a very long enough length to adapt to all configurations, a very good point that deserves more attention from some competitors!

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_interieur_connectique2_rheobus

There are also 2 molex connectors to power the 2 rheobus present, it is possible to connect them in series so that you only have to use a single plug coming from the power supply.

The configuration used during the tests is as follows:

A rather large configuration therefore due to its huge cooler and the 3 slots taken by the graphics card. The SilentiumPC Grandius M35 will be tested once with the fans connected to the rheobus in “Low” mode, once in “High” mode with only the SSD connected. Another test will take place in “Low” mode with the Raptor hard drive connected, it being literally hell in terms of its vibrations, which will allow us to see the effectiveness of the silentblocs.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_montee

The fitment in the Gladius M35 went really well, as you can see above the setup is really comfortable and there is nothing that is cramped. The only small problem I had was having to remove one of the two fans of the Noctua NH-D15, no surprise, given the height of the beast! It is possible to hide all the cables well by packing well but it would still have been interesting to have a little more space at the back, even if in the end the assembly is really very clean!

In order to test the box, I will carry out an OCCT Power Supply test for 30mins and then take the temperatures of the main components such as the processor (average of the 4 cores), the motherboard, the graphics card as well as the hard drive.
Regarding noise pollution, I will proceed as in the file on silent PCs namely 1 statement in front, right, left, rear and above.

The SilentiumPC Gladius M35 Pure Black will be tested against the Fractal Design Core 2500, Antec GX500 as well as the Silverstone PS10 and Silverstone PS11-Q. The choice of boxes is not random, all these boxes are roughly in the same price bracket.

Rest

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_resultats_repos_temperatures

As we can see the temperatures of the components in the Gladius M35 are within the standards, at the level of the Antec GX500 and Fractal Design Core 2500 and better than the Silverstone of the comparison. With 34 ° for the processor, 36 ° for the motherboard and 31 ° for the graphics card in “High” for respectively 36 °, 37 ° and 32 ° in “Low” it goes without saying that the components have absolutely nothing to be feared for their lifespan at rest! On the other hand, it should be noted that the hard drive still heats up more than in the other boxes, the explanation is quite simple because despite the ventilation present next to the latter there is unfortunately no fan on the front to create air flow, the power supply cover being above the heat remains locked in and does not rise naturally to escape at the back of the case.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_resultats_repos_nuisances_sonores

Ambient sound level: 31dB

A point that SilentiumPC takes very seriously, noise pollution! Here we cannot say that they are bad, on the contrary! With the fans in “Low” and without the hard drive plugged in, it is the quietest case in the comparison, the fans included are very quiet and take good care of our ears with a maximum of 34 dB at the back.
On the other hand when the Raptor is plugged in and as in the majority of the boxes that I tested (even the high-end models) the noise pollution increases, the fault of vibrations coming from the disc which are really too great, the noise of vibrations is made especially hear on the right side (where it is installed and without the double walls coming from the power supply cover. A disc that does not vibrate would really be a plus to mount a silent configuration in the Gladius M35! However, it gets better contain the vibrations that many cases of the comparison.
Once the fans are set to “High” the sound level naturally rises to reach a maximum of 41 dB at the rear and high above, which is quite normal given that the upper part is open (even if it is there is a dust filter). The fans, however, are quite pleasing to the ear and do not suffer from extraneous noise.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_resultats_repos_pwm

The fans in the Gladius M35 run at minimum when the box fans are set to “High” while the processor fan increases the speed very slightly once the rheobus is set to “Low”, this is quite normal given and I remind you that a fan of the Noctua NH-D15 had to be removed.

Charge

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_resultats_charge_temperatures

The temperatures under load are like what we find with the other boxes in the comparisons, in “Low” the processor goes up to 72 °, the graphics card to 75 ° and the motherboard to 46 °, c ‘is of course higher than in a more ventilated case (and therefore more noisy, like the Antec GX500 which has 3 noisy fans) but there is absolutely nothing dangerous for the equipment!
Once the fans are set to “High” the temperatures of course drop a few degrees to reach 70 ° for the graphics card, 64 ° for the processor and 43 ° for the motherboard, it is much better for a silent case but at the expense of the noise generated.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_resultats_charge_nuisances_sonores

Ambient sound level: 31dB

We can say that SilentiumPC has done its job very well here to contain the noise pollution coming from its Gladius M35. When the fans are set to “Low” the beast is the quietest in the comparison with 36 dB maximum at the rear without the raptor and 37 dB with the latter installed, and that’s really a very good thing! It will clearly not bother people looking for a case that wants to be as discreet as possible (as long as the internal components are also silent that goes without saying).
With the fans at maximum noise pollution does not change compared to rest, they are noisier than the rest of the components, for the full configuration under load this remains a good result compared to the other boxes!

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_resultats_charge_pwm

The Noctua NH-D15’s single fan goes up to 1060 RPM when the Gladius M35’s rheobus are set to “Low” and 930 when they are “High”, nothing that comes as a surprise here and it stays quite low. The fans of the graphics card meanwhile remain around 700 RPM like the majority of boxes in the comparison.

SilentiumPC_Gladius_M35_pure_black_random

Here we are at the end of this test, what to say about the SilentiumPC Gladius M35 Pure Black?
SilentiumPC makes it a point of honor to offer products with an excellent performance / price / noise ratio and it is clear that the Gladius M35 Pure Black fulfills the contract perfectly. The build quality is excellent, the materials are strong and the fans are very good.
I

n addition to that SilentiumPC has added a nice little package of features, 2 rheobus 3 speeds capable of driving 5 fans, dust filters wherever it is needed, a power supply / hard disk cover as well as an advanced compatibility with radiators. of watercooling.
The only small concerns that I could blame the Gladius M35 is on the one hand the temperature that the hard disks can reach with the original ventilation (cage not taking advantage of the air flow of the fan on the front and closed on all sides ) as well as the vibrations of the latter transmitted to the carcass. However, many boxes are subject to these concerns!

Seeing all these features we could say that we are in front of a box at 70 or 80, but no! SilentiumPC offers its Gladius M35 at a price of 50 €, as much to say that at this price it will be a very good starting point for a gamer config for which seeks a quality / price ratio foolproof! Unfortunately the availability in France is not guaranteed, it’s a shame because it could become a must in the entry level.
