The autonomous robot Stan will free drivers from parking fear at airports

Parking lots at airports are one of the worst places for both the forgetful who will not be able to find their car after returning, and those who simply hate looking for a place for themselves in narrow passages. Of course, a lot depends on the airport here, but such an autonomous robot as Stan should simply be on each of them.

Stan was developed and built by the French company Stanley Robotics, which focused on combining autonomy with functionality. This one will not only take your car after entering the parking lot at the airport, but also deliver it to you right in front of your nose. All this thanks to a series of sensors analyzing the shape and size of each vehicle, previously entered data for a specific parking lot and a system that manages all these places assigned to each car separately.

Its operation is simple – a small robot drives up to the car, carefully pushes the jacks under it, gently lifts it and transports it to its destination. Customers, in turn, receive support for a smartphone application that allows for advance seat reservation and premature “delivery”. The entire process of Stan’s operation is presented in the video below.

In fact, Stan will not only speed up the entire process in the parking lot, but also save space on it by placing the cars closer to each other (their doors are always closed). However, this is not a particularly fresh project, because its beginning dates back to 2015 and after numerous tests it will finally be tested “in battle” this summer at one of the busiest airports in Great Britain, namely Gatwick.
