The expert explained the sharp drop in sales of the iPhone 14 in Russia

MOSCOW, 14 Oct – PRIME. Sales of the new iPhone 14 in Russia this year have decreased by 4 times compared to sales of the iPhone 13 last year due to the lack of a guarantee from Apple and high prices, Eldar Murtazin, a leading analyst at Mobile Research Group, told RIA Novosti.

According to him, there is nothing new in the new models, besides, “the official market has ended, since parallel imports in the Russian Federation.”

“That is, this is the lack of a guarantee from Apple, and we see that there is no trade-in and installment plan with normal conditions. Based on this, we get rather sluggish sales. Well, plus it’s all expensive for consumers. The concept has changed, people have become more rational, so sales fell four times. In general, the market has changed very, very much,” Murtazin said.

According to Tele2, in 2021, in the first four weeks after the release, 3.5 times more iPhone 13 smartphones were registered in the network of the mobile operator than the iPhone 14 in the first month after the start of sales of the model.

At the same time, in MTS stores, when comparing the number of iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 registered in the network from September 16 to October 12, 2022 and 2021, the number of iPhones of the latest generation decreased by 2.5 times.

Apple on September 7 introduced the basic iPhone 14, including the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 14 Plus with a larger screen. Phones are presented in five colors and are equipped with screens of 6.1 and 6.7 inches. The start of sales of standard versions in America was scheduled for September 16th. Deputy Prime Minister – Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov told RIA Novosti that the new iPhone 14 will be delivered to Russia through parallel imports.
