The expert spoke about the prospects of an energy hub in Turkey

ANKARA, 13 Oct – PRIME. The idea of Russian President Vladimir Putin to move gas transit from the Nord Streams to the Black Sea region and create a gas hub in Turkey, if implemented, can satisfy part of Europe’s gas needs, said Professor Shenay Yalchyn, rector of the University of Nisantasi.

Erdogan and Putin will discuss the idea of a gas hub at a meeting in Astana
Earlier, Putin said that Russia could move gas transit from Nord Stream to the Black Sea region and Turkey. The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Fatih Donmez, commenting on this proposal, said that it is technically possible and should be studied in detail.
“Turkey is one of the countries that pursues the most balanced policy in relations with all countries. It takes a calm position in relations with Russia, Ukraine and the EU. As in the grain sector, it was proposed to choose Turkey as the center of regulation. Turkey will show that she is a good manager in the future. In this way, it will be possible to provide Europe with the necessary gas.Putin does not want to build a new gas pipeline. There are two pipelines going to Turkey: Blue Stream and Turkish Stream, part of the gas is supplied to Europe.Maybe by increasing the capacity, it will be possible to satisfy part of Europe’s gas needs,” Yalchyn was quoted as saying by the Milliyet newspaper.
