The first such lens in the world. Canon revealed a dual stereoscopic lens for VR works

Uniqueness costs money, and when we combine uniqueness with the world of lenses, the price will take us to completely different heights. An example of this is Canon’s $ 1999 new double stereoscopic fisheye lens, which will be launching it at the end of December this year.

Canon’s unique dual stereoscopic lens

The dual fisheye lens is specially designed for the EOS R5 full-frame mirrorless camera, capable of recording VR video at 8K resolution. It is also said to be the first digital lens that allows you to capture stereoscopic 3D video in a 180-degree range with a single matrix.

The lens with the exact name RF5.2 mm F2.8 L Dual Fisheye is equipped with L-series optics that are positioned at a distance of 60 mm in relation to each other to provide natural-looking 3D images that can be viewed with a suitable VR headset (e.g. Oculus Quest 2). Thanks to this lens, it is possible to record the image, which will then go to the left and right eyes. Before this happens, however, it must hit the R5 camera sensor with a resolution of 45 MP and be converted into a single file with a resolution of up to 8K DCI 30 FPS or 4K DCI 60 FPS.

Electronically controlled apertures allow this unique VR lens to work just like any other RF mount lens. It offers an aperture range from f / 2.8 to f / 16 and a magnification of 0.3x.
