The largest offshore wind farm is getting closer to completion. It's Hornsea Two

In the field of power plants using renewable sources, there is a constant struggle for larger, more efficient and more effective solar panels and turbines. Hornsea Two is a great example of this, and we are announcing it because the world’s largest offshore wind farm has now achieved important milestones in its development.

Hornsea Two is getting closer to completion. It will be the largest offshore wind farm for some time

The offshore wind farm Hornsea Two in Great Britain, which will soon be completed, will for a time become the largest wind farm in the world. Once fully operational in 2022, it will generate 1.3 GW of power, outperforming its sister project, Hornsea One with a capacity of 1.2 GW. The UK, however, already has a 4.8-GW installation planned for 2026.

More than 1.3 million homes in the UK will be powered by this large solar farm 89 km off the Yorkshire coast, developed by Danish company Ørsted. It will be generated by 165 Siemens Games wind turbines with a capacity of 8.4 megawatts each.

Today we learned that Hornsea Two has achieved two important milestones. The first is to install all the foundations of the wind turbines, which means that the work now requires the installation of the last, third turbine. The second, in turn, is the completion of work on the 8,000-tonne station that will handle them.
