Apptopia, a consulting company that analyzes statistical data of mobile applications, presented a list of the most in-demand applications of the outgoing year. The first five positions in the rating were distributed mainly between messengers and social networks.
Quite predictably, the first place was taken by the Chinese short video service TikTok, which this year gained unprecedented popularity with a total indicator of 656 million downloads. In second place is Instagram, which was downloaded to their devices by 545 million users. Closed the top three of leaders Facebook (Meta) with an indicator of 416 million downloads.
Also, the top ten popular applications of the planet included:
WhatsApp (395 million downloads).
The infamous Telegram (329 million).
Snapchat (327 million).
Zoom, the hugely popular group calling program during the pandemic (300 million)
Facebook Messenger (268 млн)
CapCut Video Editor (255 million)
Spotify music service (203 million).
It is noteworthy that four applications from Meta and two programs from ByteDance – TikTok and CapCut – were in the world top at once.
Apptopia analysts also noted that the North American top 10 is somewhat different from the world one. In particular, Telegram and Spotify could not get into it, but services such as YouTube, Cash App and HBO Max confidently made their way. TikTok, once disgraced in the United States, was also among the main leaders.
