The much more effective UA-80 Evolution life jackets have been developed

Switlik Survival Products decided to change the life vest market by designing the UA-80 Evolution Vest. It is a completely new approach to this rescue segment, which abandons the traditional design of a vest worn over the head in favor of one worn under the armpits.

Interestingly, the UA-80 Evolution Vest, made of a multi-layer Cordura nylon outer shell, is exceptionally not just a prototype or a project in the pre-production phase. It has already been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration as the first lifejacket to be permanently worn by professional aviators and aircrew. In practice, it includes a two-chamber inflatable airbag, the design of which was inspired by a vest designed for US Army aircrews.

The UA-80 life jackets, when “at rest”, take the form of a traditional vest worn over a flight suit with pockets and gear loops at the front. In the event of falling into the water, the user only needs to pull the small handle so that the vest starts to pump in the chest section and under the arms with the compressed air contained in the included cylinder. Ultimately, users can count on a displacement of over 36 kg.

Importantly, the UA-80 not only keeps the user’s head and shoulders higher on the surface of the water, but also does not interfere with wearing a helmet or other head protection equipment. Additionally, if the user becomes unconscious, the inflated bladder will automatically place it in a stable position face up. There were also reflective fragments, an alarm lamp and a handle to facilitate taking the injured out of the water. Price? $ 795, but at the moment this vest is only available for pre-sale.
