The Pixel 7 series will remain with the previous generation displays

At the beginning of May, Google announced its new smartphones – Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. We expect their premiere in the fall, although we have already received an insight into their appearance. This continues the design adopted in the previous generation. It looks like there will be other similarities between the series as well.

Google has not said anything about the details of the Pixel 7 series specifications, but a little is already starting to appear in leaks. For now, no details, but according to the new information, the manufacturer will stick to displays developed for last year’s devices.

As a reminder: Pixel 6 Pro got a 6.71-inch LTPO AMOLED display with QHD + resolution. Pixel 6 is equipped with a smaller, 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with FHD + resolution. The former offered a refresh rate of 120 Hz while the latter had a refresh rate of 90 Hz.

Of course, we are not talking about exactly the same screens, because these will be improved accordingly. In the AOSP code, service 9to5Google It found two new display driver entries – one labeled “P10” and the other “C10”. According to the website, these are code names for upcoming Google smartphones – Pixel 7 Pro and the base model, respectively. The display specified in the code is almost identical to the current generation, albeit newer, which indicates some improvements. The code also reveals the native 1080 mode of the 7 Pro, as well as a slightly smaller display size of the base model compared to last year’s – 1 mm narrower and 2 mm shorter than the base 6.
