Traditionally, the whole problem comes down to the effects of fighting the pandemic. This time, China, in the fight against the new variant of the virus, is imposing partial blockades on communities and regions, which cause new waves of shortages. The first factories have already been closed in Suzhou in the east of the country, but we are talking not only about the slowdown in production, but also problems with logistics in general. This is unique because the production challenges on the laptop market have not been so marked so far, but apparently that time has passed.

In practice, one factory stops production, and the other, which is not even affected by the pandemic restrictions, still has to wait for the delivery of elements from the former. This significantly extends the entire production process of the final equipment, and additionally puts an additional burden on logistics companies, which not only causes delays, but also leads to higher prices. In addition to these increases, there are even higher purchase prices for individual components, basic materials and raw materials.

Among the problematic components for manufacturing laptops are still integrated circuits, which are still very difficult to get at the “normal price”. If that was not enough, SSDs are also set to rise by the recent loss of up to 14 exabytes of chips at the Kioxia and Western Digital factories. In short, the premiere of the new generation laptops will certainly be delayed, their availability is low and the prices are higher.
