The quirky Samsung Exynos 2200 has leaked. The company may have problems

It looks like Samsung is testing several versions of its Exynos 2200 chip for the Galaxy S22 family. Now a leak has fallen into the network, according to which one of the Samsung Exynos 2200 variants adopts a 4 + 4 processor core cluster (via Anthony).

This is all the more surprising that the Exynos 2100 comes in a 1 + 3 + 4 configuration, and the Exynos 2200 itself has previously been networked under the same CPU core configuration. Yes, the subject of Samsung’s flagship SoC has become more interesting not only due to the presence of a graphics processor based on the AMD RDNA2 architecture, but now also by the processor itself.

In the 1 + 3 + 4 configuration, the Exynos 2200 probably used the most efficient Cortex-X2 core clocked at 2.59 GHz, while in this heterogeneous chip from four Cortex-A710 and four Cortex-510. Not without a reason, because switching to such a pair could lower energy consumption and the degree of heating up of the system.

So Samsung may currently just be looking for the right Exynos 2200 configuration to balance power consumption with performance. The explanation could be even simpler though – chances are this latest leak is simply being manipulated by Geekbench.
