The referenced account is currently locked and may not be logged into it

Let’s say you are trying to login to your system. Enter the wrong password. Now, you don’t remember your password and try to enter your password again. If you enter the wrong password a certain number of times, you will see an error message that says:

The referenced account is currently locked out and may not be logged on to.

This happens if the administrator has set an account threshold policy on your system.

If you see this error, don’t worry. This is how you can resolve this error.

How to fix that the referenced account is currently locked and may not be logged in by mistake?

1. Open the Run Dialog with the keys Windows + R.

3. In the window that opens, navigate to the following location:

Account Policies > Account Lockout Policy > Account lockout threshold

4. In the Account Lockout Threshold Properties window, set 0 at invalid login attempts.

5. Click Request.

6. If you see a window that shows suggestions about the related policies to change, click OK.

7. Again, click OK in the Account Lockout Threshold Properties window.

That’s it.
