The system requirements for Far Cry 6 are high and low

On October 7, the next part of Ubisoft’s long-running adventure series Far Cry will be released, where the newcomer will be named Far Cry 6. The title was revealed last summer and it is clear that the scene is the fictional island of Yara, which in true Far Cry style is held in iron grip. The antagonist is a dictator who, with the help of a substantial arsenal of weapons and aides from the animal kingdom, is to be overthrown.

The publisher now presents relatively detailed system requirements for those who want to take on the freedom struggle on PC / Windows, more specifically Windows 10 with the 20H1 update or later. DirectX 12 support is required regardless of level, which also applies to storage space of 60 GB – preferably of the SSD type.

The relatively easy-to-run basic level is accompanied by hardware recommendations for more fluid 60 frames per second (FPS), while using the game’s support for ray tracing requires substantial donations. On the website, Ubisoft further writes that Far Cry 6 can be run on several or extra wide screens, that the title has a built-in performance test, support for unlimited frame rate and that AMD’s upscaling technology FSR is supported.

Basic system requirements

The simplest level promises only 30 FPS in a resolution of 1,920 × 1,080 pixels, but should be able to operate with simpler quad-core processors with several years on the neck. The graphics card looks to need 4 GB of graphics memory and the publisher exemplifies with variants based on the 2016 “Polaris” architecture, respectively and “Maxwell” from 2015.

Recommended system requirements

With 60 FPS, the processor requirements increase and for both 1080p and 1440p gaming, Ubisoft recommends the popular six-core AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, alternatively Intel’s “Skylake” -based models with four to eight cores. On the graphics front, the 1080p level comes with a recommendation for aging graphics cards that belong to the top tier of their time, while the previous generation’s middle class applies to those who want to play in higher resolution.

With the higher resolutions, an optional requirement is added for those who want high-resolution textures, something that drives up the storage need from 60 to 97 GB. SSD is recommended regardless of level. To kick start ray tracingThe functionality exemplifies Ubisoft with powerful donations in both 1440p and 4K UHD mode, where the former requires Nvidia’s Geforce RTX 3070 or AMD’s top model Radeon RX 6900 XT.

In 4K UHD, the promised frame rate drops to 30 FPS, but somewhat contradictory, the recommended graphics card on the AMD side also drops a lot – Radeon RX 6800. The increase is instead for Nvidia, where the Geforce RTX 3080 is visible in the list. Eight-core processors from both Intel and AMD accompany this.

On October 7, the game will also be released for Sony’s Playstation 4 and Playstation 5, as well as Microsoft’s Xbox One consoles and Xbox Series X / S. For those who play in the current, Google Stadia and Amazon Luna apply.
