The thoughtlessness of the Russians threatened the Chinese scientific satellite Tsinghua 1

In November 2021, the Russian inactive KOSMOS 1408 satellite was shot down by the Russian PL19 Nudol as part of an anti-satellite weapon test. It did not end well and will most likely echo until the end of our days on this planet, as an example of Russian thoughtlessness, which now makes the work of space agencies and astronauts difficult, and may potentially cause a lot more damage.

The Tsinghua 1 scientific satellite has been collecting data on the gravitational field and the physical properties of the atmosphere for more than a year, and a destructive piece of hair has recently passed

The said shooting took place at an altitude of about 500 kilometers and close to satellite and manned activity zones. As expected, it resulted in a significant littering of this region in orbit, which includes more than 1,500 large fragments and several hundred thousand smaller ones. It was because of them that NASA had to move the planned space walk, and three astronauts at the Chinese space station could experience the worst moments of their lives when they found out that there was a cloud of these debris around them.

The latest incident related to these debris involved the Tsinghua scientific microsatellite, which has been in orbit since August 2020. This one barely 14.5 meters bypassed the closest passage at night on January 18, which was classified as “extremely dangerous”.
